Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was so upset when they got that field position with a time out and 30+ seconds left and they let the clock run down for the FG attempt. Like, we have a ******g horrible history with games that we should have won and FG attempts gone wrong... and Zim just plays for the FG. **** moi.

Baseball on the radio is how I began to fall in love with our national pastime. Nascar on the radio is also good. I listened to the radio feed of the Pirates game today because I preferred the radio announcers over the TV crew.
Different strokes for different folks.

At times I've turned on sports radio in the car, heard minor league baseball, and wonder how that can make money. And then I think of certain people here.

Yep.

Listening to the Indy 500 on the radio was all you had, back in the day. I had to work during the 82 500, and it was the most amazing radio broadcast I can remember.

Some people may think in black and white terms, and it's up to the radio team to paint the picture for us. Of course, if the mind is closed, there's no amount of paint that will help.

I enjoyed many an evening with Vin Scully on AM radio in the 80s and 90s, even though I wasn't a big Dodgers fan.

Back in the day it was common to turn down the TV and put on John Ward.

These days if the TV announces are annoying enough, I'll turn the sound down and listen to no one.

I grew up with Vin Scully and even decades later the sound of his voice brought back those feelings and memories. I don't follow baseball anymore but I might tune in to a playoff or WS game.
I listened to Chick Hearn do Lakers broadcasts for years. The best basketball announcer ever. As he said "Our words eye view". "The door is closed, the light is out, the eggs are cooling, the butter's getting hard, the Jello's jiggling.
I never liked hockey but there was on announcer I would listen to. I can't think of his name but his use of the English language was amazing.

20 years ago, I used to watch hockey games in French from Quebec Canada. We used to turn the sound of the television off and turn on the radio to the local am station. Those 2 guys could paint! Wasn't always in sinc but it was better than no hockey.
This was in the days of Probert and earlier. Before all the moms got involved and ruined the game. Bunch a panzies.

Third cool morning in a row. We're not due for 'the change' for another month, but there will be no complaining if it comes early.

Arm warmers at 63?!?!

I decided to wait until after work to ride when it's a steamy 70 vs the 41 degrees it was when I woke up.
