Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We'd have been happy to scrape the lot and build new, but there's nothing remotely close to as cheap as $70k here.

It is. Waco is a wasteland. AG and I could probably go buy a small second house up there with our joint account. But that would only work if she never had to go into the office again, which is literally the reason Waco is cheap and Austin is expensive.

I bet Waco is quiet though.

My sentiments exactly. The owner is coming tonight. He’s a very muscular, former lacrosse player. I suspect people will behave better.

Well hell. My watts were pathetic, but I'm sveldt, and I've pulled a crap ton of spacers, so I'm looking a little more like something that may be slightly more aero than a brick. I must have looked like I was using one of those stair stepper/elliptical type bikes prior, because I pulled a lot out... I finally broke an hour on a 40k TT, even though I was begging for a flat tire with 40 minutes gone... Oh my oh my was it hot. 58:43. I'll take it.

I sure appreciate it I just like doing weird ****, in all of my hobbies!

Unfortunately it looks like the problem is the amp I've tried 4 different pedals, a different amp, a different power supply, a known good set of cables, and trying all of the ground lift switches I can find - something's all weird on the loop send. I'm hoping to find a combination of variables that works but I'm running out of options ATM.

Great achievement, especially for a man in his...uh...middle years! How hilly, how windy, and how did you train for it?

Thank you!

No hills, cross-head going out, but that's when I made some time. It's a T shape type deal, so we got all 4 compass points. 98.5 average temp.... But it's a dry heat! With the new position, I expected to lose some watts, so the aero thing is true. Get aero, the speed takes care of itself. I wasn't nearly as acclimated as I needed to be, but something had to change. With Covid, we didn't know this was coming up til about 3 weeks ago, so that's when I got back on the TT bike. Then, I didn't do anything but. 4x10' LT, 2x20' LT, then I would do stuff like 3x3' VO2 max after those. Of course, his favorite is 4x6' Vo2 max, and 40" on/20" easy for 10 minutes, times 4. You haven't lived until you've done that on a TT bike... Going to 7-Eleven? You better be on the TT bike... I had been doing plenty LT stuff prior, so that part wasn't as daunting, but on the TT bike, it was harder, of course.

It's not that I want the world to end, but if I looked up and saw this ballyhooed meteor, I'd be like, ok.

No doubt. Sometimes I think I'm OK being old, so I may not have to witness what's coming down the pike.

Kudos, but what's wrong with riding like a brick?

I think that there should be a law that you need to explicitly disclose the inclusion of raisins in any baked goods. Whilst out on our day of family fun, I got a peach crisp only to find friggin' raisins mixed in with the peaches. Damn savages.
