June 2021 100+ Miles/km Thread

What’s your goal for June ?
About to get hot .
My June goal is 125 miles . And to ride as many days as I can .
I did 205 last month , but I think I overdid it and need to cut back .
Today proved that . My riding friend wanted to ride the MUP this morning and although I didn’t think I was ready , I was willing to give it a try .
Ended up with 10.8 miles and sore knees .
June Goal 125
6-01 10.8
MTD 10.8
YTD 471.5

Agreed..it's going to be hot and the rain season is coming
so to borrow from you..."I'm going to ride as many days
that I can", hopefully 200 but we shall see 👀

I’m not sure what to think about the weather here. It’s like the monsoon season or something, but on the up side, it’s keeping the heat down. I’ll try for 800 miles again this month.

Short neighborhood ride to loosen up the knees. Stiff when I woke up this morning, they feel better after the ride .

Did my long commutes yesterday; 31.9 going in and 33.4 coming home. It was 97 degrees and that's the hottest temperature ride I've done in over 3 years. My HR was elevated...despite not pushing hard at all I set my highest 1 min and 5 min heart rates for 2021 on a climb. Whew!

June
Miles = 65.3

Alright, I'm back!! My foot has healed and I've done a few short rides, but now it's time to get serious. My goal for June is 175 miles.

June 03 = 11.77 miles.

MTD = 11.77 / 175.00

I’ve been experiencing an increase in hand pain , wrist , elbow , and even rib cage pain .
Hoping raising my handlebars to a cruiser height will help .
I’ll give the BMX bars a try for awhile and see if it helps . Something else will probably start hurting

The Hardrock with the BMX bars lasted only a few miles this morning and it was back to the garage for a stem and handlebar swap . Fun to ride , but too upright to ride very far .
I put my adjustable stem with a some mustache bars back on it . It’s a good compromise.

Reached 500 for the year . Almost caught up on my goal for 1200 for the year .
I need to rat hole some miles for those days coming that I won’t be able to ride .

Didn't think I was going to get to do the Vintage Bike Group Ride today, but my prior commitment got canceled so I did. Fun times, but the guys in the group are encouraging me to get a vintage racing bike to ride instead of my '75 Centurion Super Le Mans steel-framed touring bike. Yeah, right, I'll get back to you about that (basing this conclusion on the look on my wife's face when I mentioned it). My MTB friend thinks I need a 29er mountain bike, too, because my 26" Stumpjumper is so...old.

6/5 - 15.6 mi.
6/6 - 23.7

MTD: 39.3 mi

checked the forecast this morning and it said I had about a 2 hour window before the showers start back . So I rode on wet pavement, even though I don’t like to . I get finished and now they’ve extended the window three more hours .
Don’t you just love weather predictors.
