Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Some types create a smell. Vaping certainly creates vapor, and often a lot. That is what gave her away. I saw vapor rising from her cube.

OMG, I was scheduled for the discogram and was just informed that it is not covered. SMFH. Now, I am going to pivot to the nerve block option but I'm not sure they can fit this in before year end. If not it will cost me easily an extra $1,000 since I'm already over my my max out of pocket this year.

Add another chapter in that book I could write. Dammit.

Thanks, Bill. I wish I had the skill with the camera you and others have.

The buses and limos are a weekend deal, except for the elderly care facilities. They generally come by through the week. We leave the trucksters out of the driveway until bedtime, so folks feel more free to walk the driveway. We have a lot of dogs, and the kids (and old kids) get a kick out of it.

Agree try nerve block. The discogram is most likely an obsolete type of test, I have never seen it done in over 20 years of practice.

As an aside, I'll add that here after Thanksgiving we went to a large indoor event at the convention center. Signs at the entrance clearly said masks were required (one of the few non-healthcare places to do so these days).

At least half the people inside had no mask.

So it goes.

I am on the horns of a dilemma. I found rims, spokes, and nipples as well as tension gauge and nipple driver for rebuilding the wheels for the Ritchey. The total is pretty close to a brand new pair of Fulcrum Racing 4's from PBK, which would be lighter, more aerodynamic, and probably better quality than I could build myself. BUT I wouldn't have the experience of building wheels. So, how much is that experience worth?

Buying the Fulcrums doesn't prevent me later buying the stuff to build the wheel, but it would be later.

Then there's another dilemma - Mrs. GeneJockey just spent a chunk of money on that bassoon, which means one of two things - 1) this frees me to spend a similar, but lower amount on myself, or 2) this means I shouldn't spend anything like that on myself, since she's spent so much. There's this Litespeed Ultimate on Ebay, but it would need a complete rebuild that would run about $1500-2000 altogether......

In other fusion news, General Fusion Corporation, of Vancouver, is locating its US headquarters in nearby Oak Ridge.

I did a race on Zwift last night - 29 miles, 7 times around a loop. I stuck with a group of 5 other riders, doing as little work as I could get away with. Every lap ends with a 30 second, 5-6% climb, followed by a similar descent, and then the sprint. 6 times, I attacked on the climb and descent, but then didn't push on the sprint, to get the others to burn matches on that plus pointlessly contesting the sprint, hoping to deplete them. Then on the final lap I miscalculated the climb and missed somebody else attacking, and ended up 3rd, missing second by 0.1 second.

Next time.....

Finished my first trip in the 737.

I didn’t make the news, so mission successful.

Overnighted in San Antonio yesterday. The river walk there is pretty awesome.

Ugh. What a way to start your workday. The last train-trolley grade crossing left in the country. Not that far outside Philly.
