Got My Metric Century
63 miles today .....longest ride of the year by 2 miles. Not bad for a 51 year old decapitated guy. The new Domane was pretty comfy but my legs got pretty tired. Good temps but the wind was whipping around quite a bit ..... gonna shoot for 75 miles next !!

Just trying drop bars again now. Had a three level cervical fusion last August. Been riding mustache bars. First test ride today, only 20 miles or so. Neck is kind of sore. Going to try changing positions a little bit. We’ll see how it goes!

Congratulations. I did mine Saturday on my Domane too. Nice and cool afternoon. Perfect weather. I went through two 24 ounce water bottles. Next time I will take one more small water bottle or my wife’s small Camelbak.

Only 1.5L for a metric century? That seems low. I did almost 140km (85 miles) in rainy weather yesterday and drank about 5.5L over the course of the ride.

I find my water intake goes up dramatically after about 50 miles. I rode an imperial century yesterday in cool weather, and easily 90% of my water intake happened after the 50 mile mark.

Yep. I hydrated well before leaving. Then forgot to stop at a small general store on the way. Road right by it. The last 5 miles I'd have drank water from the ditch if it were not dry. At least I had acclimated to the 95 F weather and it was mid seventies for the ride. Next time I will stop or at least take my wife's small camelbak.

That's about what I go through (1.5L) on a metric century ride, unless it's the height of summer. Actually a little less. Two ~650ml bottles on the bike (plus a double espresso somewhere along the journey 😁.
Plenty for a few hours on the pedals.
I don't think I've ever downed 5+ litres on a ride of any length! How many times do you stop to pee?!?! 😯

Congratulations on the metric. It is an accomplishment to do that distance . I have ridden several and still feel proud when I complete one. I rode 64.5 miles on Saturday at the Nut Roll in Albany, Ga. A bit windy, and some small hills. Enjoyable ride. I did forget all my water bottles in the truck and only able to hydrate at the 3 rest stops. Big mistake. Fortunately, it was not too hot, so was able to complete without incident.
Keep up the good work and wishing you many more metrics in the future
