2016 Goals
Lets have them. The place to share your 2016 and keep everyone updated
I guess I'll start:
This is my 1st year racing, so I'm looking to gain experience
1. Finish Manchester Velodrome Accreditation process (Stage 1 of 4 done, open sessions booked to learn stage 2 drills)
2. Overall top half finish of track league in B Endurance (runs weekly May-Sept)
3. Enter at least 2 open events at outdoor tracks and 1 indoor (Indoor dependant on goal 1)
4. Increase FTP by 25% (Tests to be done soon)

Finish the Learn to Race Session, so I can race. Derailed last time due to asthma
Do a few Novice races, don't suck
Move up to Intermediate Coaching from Novice
Road Cycling: Break 40 minutes on Cypress Mountain
Do the Double Triple Crown (6 mountains in a row) I started to do August 2nd before being hit by a car while starting my 3rd mountain.
Finish Whistler Fondo under 4 hours. (Best is 4:12 with a slow start due to asthma concerns)
Do a Road Race or two.

1.10.X kilo and 11.4x 200 would be my goals to hit by next nationals (fall 2016). Have to be more consistent with my training, I have good blocks but get derailed often

Lapped 3x
I live a 5 minute ride from the velodrome in Edmonton, brought my bike out with me after I had moved, and no longer work 12 hour night shifts. So no excuses this year.

Good to see that most of these are measurable in some way. Allows you to focus on achieving that goal.
I want to try a cyclocross race too, but that'll be in the Autumn when all track is done

1. Sub 12 200m - fastest recorded recently is 12.4 but I think I've gotten about 12.1/12.2 before
2. Sub 1:15 kilo - have no idea what I'm currently sitting on
3. Improve my standing starts more - always been pretty slow off the mark until recently, pretty good now. But very occasionally when on a bigger gear or fatigued I'll lose my line and then my momentum trying to correct myself
4. Squat 150kg - Currently at 120kg
5. Deadlift 180kg - Currently at 140kg
6. Attend state championships - Was planning to this year but I had a fair bit of time off work with other things, so it was hard to justify taking the better part of a week off when I don't get paid holidays
4 and 5 are for my own satisfaction as I enjoy lifting weights, it's not me thinking my 1RM will affect my track performance

I'd love a sub 1.10 kilo (stretch goal for sure) and low 11 handle 200m (currently sitting at about 1.15 and 11.8 respectively). Oh, and a podium at old fart nationals at my home track would be sweet too.

I'm based near Manchester. Were you thinking of entering the track league at Huyton in Liverpool next year?
I just want to train consistently, get myself into decent shape and be able to start racing in 2017.

I'm down to just wanting to get some consistent training in– this has been beyond my capabilities the last two seasons but I'll finally be finishing my MA in the spring. Neither set of US nationals is at tracks I'll travel to (too far), so I'd settle for some decent training and a couple trips to Carson. And maybe one trip to Izu Velodrome.

Whats the accreditation process at Huyton? I've been trying to get on for the last few weeks on a Sunday, but it always seems to be cancelled. I've done a lot of riding at Stoke which I think is a similar track size (400m outdoor concrete) so I should have no problem with this.

My goals are to simple:
1) Commute 4-day's per week, shoot for 5 most weeks.
2) Try some club or bike shop rides on the weekend
3) Return to doing at least most of my own maintenance.

No I'm not with a club, I've only completed a beginnr session classes plus I'm still very unfit.
I'm assuming Huyton would be the nearest club in Liverpool. I need to start outting in some sessions as often as possible, with the weather being so bad lately, I'm thinking of picking up a turbo trainer in the Jan sales.

I'd love to get some consistent training this winter.
Early season I'll race Saturdays with the masters at T-Town. I'd like to not suck, to be part of the racing and not watching from the back.
If I feel good about that, I'll go up on Tuesday nights and race with the 3's. A cat 2 upgrade would make my season!

1. Finish Manchester Velodrome Accreditation process (Stage 1 of 4 done, open sessions booked to learn stage 2 drills)
Open Sessions booked for the next 3 Tuesdays. I'm going to use this to get used to riding on different parts of the track and moving up/down track safely. On the final one, I'll aim to stay on track for 35 mins, which is part of the stage 2 accreditation.
Will be able to do my tests in the next couple of weeks too to see how i'm performing on power & HR
