Hello from Brooklyn

To those who have expressed interest in biking in New York City and adding to comments in other threads about this, I will agree that it is relatively safe since years have passed with designated bike lanes having been constructed and the public has been made aware of this new reality. The negative aspect is in the dense neighborhoods when it seems like you have to stop or slow down considerably almost every block for a stop sign, traffic light, or just to be careful. Also, if the police see you riding outside of a biking lane where there is one, or going through a red light you might be issued a ticket.
