Even as an oldie, waiting for the road version of this

Even as an old guy
who has vintage and modernish bikes
beyond his ability to ride them all 'regularly' -
I might buy the road version of this bike.
Surely, it must be coming.
From somewhere.
CF or Al would do.

Conventionally radical innovation.

Might allow me to keep narrow tires with enough compliance in those stays & blades. Who cares about UCI regs? But the price has to trickle down.

edit: Pictured is a British track bike for the Olympics. Collaboration between Lotus, Hope & Renishaw.

Looks expensive. And it's geared too high for climbing. But I'll bet it would be a hoot to ride around the track.

What's the gearing, about 65-10?

And where do I put my water bottle?

I’m sure I’ll die of old age before that fits in my bike budget.

Granted, it looks striking. But I wonder what performance issue this strange design is supposed to address.

Track bikes are all about stiffness and aerodynamics, so I'm assuming that's what they were working on. As you've probably seen, some unusual bikes with the Lotus name have appeared before.

The fork and stays are bowed out to put them in line with the rider’s legs, which are the biggest aerodynamic factor.

And the design is a bit behind the curve as Team USA cycling women world champion pursuit team used a bike in the Rio Olympics with the drive train on the other side to reduce aero drag 3.5 seconds over 4K.

I have to wonder if the airfoil is not symmetrical and if it's skirting any rules about having a fairing

Get some flat bars, paint the wheels pink and get a green chain. You would rule the hipster fixie world.

That bike actually looks pretty cool from the front.

I've also noticed a trend toward having wider fork spacing on normal aero road bikes just to allow cleaner airflow around the wheels. This is kind of an extreme version and obviously interacts with the airflow around the rider's legs.

What's next, Drone bikes so they can remove the biggest aero issue, the rider. The price is astounding.

That would be the whole British "marginal gains" thing.

Oh... I need one of those... so if I park my bike on the right side of the road and snap a photo, BF users won't be screaming about me posting a NDS photo.
