Trying to Identify Bottecchia
Hello,
This bike is up for sale in my area. Trying to identify model, year, tubing and what is no longer original. They are asking for $300, which seems a little steep given the condition. Opinions? Photos are from the listing.
Thanks!

It looks like a 1985 Bottecchia Competizione to me. If that the case the tubing would be Columbus Aelle R.

Going to say the RD is not original, maybe SP, seat and pedals, can't tell on brakes for sure, others will be along to help.
If you like it and it fits, you may want to try and talk them down, doesn't seem like we see a lot of smaller ones so.......
I bought a 70's for $400 last summer and it is a fantastic rider, these are very cool and I would seriously consider it.

300 bucks is a bit on the high side for this Bottecchia, especially considering the major paint loss on the top tube. You might be able to get a bit off (try maybe 60 bucks off?) the asking, if you point out the decal and paint losses.
Bottecchias are becoming much more popular with C&V enthusiasts, especially the better quality ones that came out in the mid to late 80's. So finding and buying one from this era would be a good acquisition.

Thread moved to Appraisals forum.
By the way, I only saw this post as a friend is looking for a vintage Bottecchia. The mod staff do not read every post. If the future, it is best to either send me a PM request or better yet, report the thread by clicking on the red circle in the lower left of your post and request a move.
