That is just nasty. I like to ride the trainer /rollers but more like 3x20’ with a warm up and cool down.

My tendonitis has seemed to subsided, I have a big race 3 weeks from now and its a couple thousand feet climbing so building for it and not agitating my knee is going to be a juggling act. I thought for sure my season was over, it still may be but I'm going to see it through one day at a time.

Training after 40 ain't easy. The smart ones quit, the stubborn ones keep on.

Yeah, it's not too much fun, especially after 2hrs lol But on the plus side I got to watch lots of soccer. And I finally cracked 4hrs for the first time this year

So turns out that my messed up stomach on Monday was a full blown stomach bug that took me out of comission all day yesterday. First tuesday I've missed in a long time. Oh well, I finished Parks and rec and kick started myweight loss regiment for LoToJa.

Today was just easy on the trainer to get my legs back under me. For three reasons. It's almost 100* here, whe air quality is red and yeah, I literally had no calories in my stomach yesterday, so don't think it's a good idea to do anything hard for a few days.

S&A on the TT bike on Fiesta Island today. Sprinters warmup and a couple of jumps and then 30’ of low cadence tempo followed by an additional lap. I used a 54/11 most of the time for the LC work.

Finished off the block over the weekend with the last 4 days of it being 2.75 with vo2, 3.75 with 3x15 threshy/sweet spot, 3.75hrs z2 ride (the overheating thing), and 5.75 of lowish z2 fat burning. A rest week has never felt so relevant to my interests!

Another easy hour.

My Drama for the day... the 4th of July crit got changed from a ****ty course to one that actually looks fun. Unfortunately, its' now being raced around a private "academy" thats for troubled youth. And it's "benefitting" this school. Upon my research its got a pretty shady past of abuse, sexual abuse and some strong homophobia (gay conversion), from what I can find. I'm conflicted because I know how hard promoting a race is and how difficult it can be to find a place when a permit gets pulled at the last minute. But on the other hand it it just betrays so many of my morals. If it wasn't "benefiting" I'd probably still race, but with that said.. Think I'm gonna have to vote with my wallet on this one even if I like this race director.

edit: If this is too P&R, I apologize. I'll remove and bring it there.

It was probably a stipulation to use the course, and they're doing a service no one wants to do. As someone that bounced in and out of foster care I can tell you the lines of the issues you bring up are pretty grey. Kids show up there broken to an unexplainable point to the average person, and the adults really don't want to be there. Normal adults wash out of those places pretty fast, so you get shady caretakers. Adding to that, those kids are dropped off there for a reason, some are really bad.

Finding a race course is not easy. If this school has a decent course, go race it.

The donation may be the incentive that led to the school allowing the race on its property.

And truthfully, the "vote with your wallet" is a vote against the race, not the school.

This is less of a foster care and more of an in-patient facility / boarding school.(Programs for Troubled Teens: Counseling, Schooling & Help Services).
I mean the school has a published video claiming they can cure *****exuality.

Obviously this is ultimately my decision whether to race or not, but I appreciate points counter to how I was thinking. I always like when people are willing to provide counter-points in a rational way.

First day of intensity in a while. Full rest, all out hill sprints. 4x 30seconds at high powr, then 2x1minute at high power on the way home. A lot of TSS for literally <5 minutes worth of work.

Out of curiosity, which one did you PR on? Because I got my new 1 min best power on the last one of the day

The first. I warmed up and didn’t hold anything back, just wanted to see what I could hit. The others were terrible.

Nice job, guys. I find those 1 min efforts so hard to dial in after not doing them for a while. I inevitably blow up 40 secs in on the first few attempts.

Second group ride in two weeks. Got dropped on the first one and then dropped again today. Getting dropped sucks.
