Do Weinmann 4dot and 7dot brake pads fit the same holder?

Do Weinmann 4dot and 7dot brake pads fit the same holder?
I stumbled across a set of 7dot Koolstop pads in my parts bin, can anyone tell me if they'll fit the same holder as the 4dot model? I'd hate to tear up the old set getting them out and find the new ones don't fit.

I'm guessing you mean these R12 Weinmann 7-dot pads and not the classic R10 Mafac 4-dot or slightly longer R14 Mafac tandem 5-dot pads? Double check the dimensions.
From what I can tell they are slightly wider and shorter than the Mafacs.

Koolstop gives pretty detailed dimensions of all their pads on their site. Hopefully it can help you out.

I think the answer is no. The 4 "block" pads are longer by about 4 mm as well as thicker. It may be possible to put the shorter 7-dot pads in those holders but I personally wouldn't do it simply because of the way it looked, independent of any safety concerns.

The dimensions according to Koolstop look close enough that I'd guess it's within manufacturing tolerances. However, the 7 dots are the slanted surface type; made for rims with slanted sides. I guess you could sand them flat, but new pads are a better idea, IMO.
It's the X pads and the 6 dots that are shorter.
I don't really remember the swapping compatibility because BITD Weinmann pads would be typically be replaced with new pads and holders complete, off the display card.

My bad - I didn't count the dots. I just compared the one with the 4 blocky features to the pad in a Weinmann side pull brake I had in my parts box.
