Giant's 2020 vs 2021 TCR - How do you feel about it?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not a big loss! Never was a fan of Conti. Schwalbe Pro Ones FTW!

Thread update & closure: I ended up buying a 2021 Pro 0 today that I am picking up on Monday at a LBS a few hours away from where I live. The pandemic resulted in a shortage of bikes across the country, but I was lucky enough to find a LBS that had a large in stock. The Giant store close-by could order me one, but the delivery date was around April 2021...insane!

Can't wait to install my pedals & go for a long ride!

Agreed. I would not use tires that aren't ''hookless compatible''. Giant has tested a few of them and put the list on its website. Schwalbe Pro Ones are in the list of approved tires so I'm good! lol

Per a note from Giant, the USA and Canada models are not the same. The US version that my wife has does not have hookless rims, hence there not being a link to approved tires on the US site.

They are the same. Hookless rims comes on SLR1 wheels which are included in the Advanced Pro lineup (disc or non disc). Your wife probably has the ''regular'' TCR Advanced with the PR-2 aluminum wheels.

Here is the verbatim response from Giant:

Thank you for contacting us. I believe you were looking at the new hookless SLR 1 rims that are available in Canada right now. The reason there is only certain tire compatibility is because those rims are hookless. The only hookless rims on 2020 bikes were the ones on with Cadex wheels. If you have a 2020 model bike with SLR 1 wheels, then you don’t need to reference the hookless tire compatibility chart.

And here's the link to the US website for the 2021 Pro 0. See ''Technology and features'' section. As I said, we have the same models in both countries.

Now I see the disconnect. We're talking about different model years. I'm referring to the 2020 TCR Pro 0, which does not have hookless rims: https://www.giant-bicycles.com/us/tc...o-0-disc-force

I just got the 2021about a month ago. I love the blue and sometimes purplish color. The Schwalbe's offer a plusher ride, but the GP5000 S TRs(Hookless Compatible) deliver on the speed. Hope you are loving the bike as much as I am!

The Canadian site you originally listed has a link to what tires work. The US version does not. https://www.giant-bicycles.com/us/sl...sc-road-wheels

Are the US rims different? Did I put improper tires on my wife's bike? Now I'm a bit worried.

Where'd you find the new Conti?

Merlin Cycles had them in stock last week, but they sold out pretty quick.
