You guys need to move to Florida. I won't ride in anything below 55 degrees and still get in 150 + miles a week throughout the months of Dec, Jan and Feb.

LOL, I'd be skipping April through November if I lived in Florida. I'd rather not get much riding in 3 months of the year than no riding 8 months of the year while I am laying in a puddle like a pile of pudding waiting for it to cool down. 80's and 100% humidity is tough enough. Want nothing to do with 105 and 100% humidity. BTDT the week I visited Florida in 2010.

I was doing great this year. It was going to be 5000 miles, a personal record. Then a Stomach surgery, then an infected incision. I haven't been on a bike since Nov. 20. OK, I will stop whining.

Merry Bikemas all you animals!

Getting dressed for the first ride that counts toward the Rapha Festive. It's cold (to Californians) and very wet, with scattered rain continuing for the next 5 hours or so. But I gotta do what I gotta do.

Up to this morning, I've averaged 42.3 miles with 1,753 vertical feet per ride this month. Gonna try to keep the climbing for this last week of the year to an absolute minimum. I'll make 450,000ft for the year without effort, and that's plenty. Under 460k is the new goal.

December is almost over and doubt I'll make my 100 miles.

MTD:
70 miles
4455' elevation gain
25 hours

Avg speed 2.8 mph

Trainers suck when it comes to average speed.

I'll take not riding in the winter over riding flat enough to watch your dog run away for a week myself.
For me to get over 300,000' of elevation gain I'd have to do a lot(!) of overpass repeats down yonder. Here I can ride what I consider flat and get 53'/mile.

So ends December, and with it 2016.

961.8 miles
36,344ft^
58.5 hours

I would frankly have been happier with even less climbing, but sometimes it's unavoidable. Interesting tidbit, today's 12-mile meander around the neighborhood with my daughter was my 500th ride on Strava.

I need to finalize my failure for 2016. I didn't make my 2000 miles, just short 50 miles. I did get my 100k feet of climbing though. Final ride was while working what we call Firewatch. On plant shutdown we have a guy work voluntary on "Firewatch" where we have to make rounds making sure all doors are locked and certain equipment that can't be shut down are running. Managed 5 miles on the bike for my rounds of the plant.

On to 2017 of which I got out on New Year's Day.

12/4 - 8.3 miles - 608 feet climb
12/5 - 4.4 miles - 260 feet climb
12/7 - 4.4 miles - 260 feet climb
12/8 - 4.0 miles - 234 feet climb
12/12 - 6.9 miles - 453 feet
12/25 - 12 miles - 785 feet
12/27 - 9.8 miles - 662 feet
12/28 - 5 miles - -0 feet (riding laps in a manufacturing plant)

MTD - 54.8 miles

YTD - 1949.6 miles - 100,625 feet climbing
