Hello from Oregon

Hey all, long time lurker finally jumping in. Self employed Bike Mechanic in beautiful Oregon. A commuter first but also enjoy road cycling and touring. I'll definitely spend most of my time in C&V, there's no greater joy than uncovering a classic gem in somebody's barn/garage.

Grow gills

I've honestly way more experience commuting in the snow and slush than in Oregon's rainy months so far. A vented bombproof rain jacket is #1 in either case for me, here most people just resign themselves to getting at least a little wet doing anything outdoors it seems

My fiancé and I were out in the Bend and Mount Hood areas this summer and we LOVED it. I saw more cyclists in a day there than I have here in weeks haha. Hoping to get out there again to tackle some of the longer routes. The amount of open land and trees in Oregon is absolutely staggering.

Portland (for example) gets less rain annually than:
Providnce RI
Richmond VA
Raleigh NC
Nashville TN
Louisville KY
New York NY
Birmingham AL
all of Florida and the Gulf Coast area.

Seattle = even less rain than Portland and less than The District of Columbia.

Luckily, many stay away because of the rain myth. We are grey a lot.

Air conditioning sucks.
