I have a 2005 of these: nice enough bike and decent for a casual mountain biker but its not a high end bike by any means; the one in the photos is pretty beat up.

Merged duplicate threads.

Your bike is probably worth around $100.

I have a 4300 in yellow very common bike bought it around 2005 if i recall, worth about $150-200 in good shape in my market...maybe.. seal blow out on the forks mine are chrome and pitted and stiff as heck... from lack of use... nice enough bike for casual riding... i wouldn't buy another though. Id go for a solid fork bike from the 90's one less maintenance item.

Looks like a 29er disc fork on a 26er frame designed for rim brakes. The fork length is much longer than the original and will throw off handling.

The bottom of the stem is pushing directly against the upper bearing cup with no spacers. I suspect bearing preload is not correct. This will destroy the headset, if it hasn't already. Recommend replacing the fork with a suitable 26er if you're thinking of selling it.

Given condition issues as noted already, $25 in my market. Hopefully your market is better! Replacement fork steer tube is too short, hence the lack of any spacers. $300 asking price for the OP bike = dreamland.

The one for sale above has the proper wheel and fork, is in much better condition. And the price is an "asking" price, it has not sold.

The MTB market has changed dramatically. Buyers want the latest and greatest. Some much older MTBs are starting to go up. Treks first MTBs didn’t come out until 1983. They were rigid all steel frames. Trek MTBs from 1983, 1984, and 1985 are starting to get some interest.

Hi: I understood your original post to be a question about how much a Trek 4500 of some year is worth as you were looking for one it appears? My response was to say that they are nice enough bikes but not high end so you should not expect to buy or sell one for too much money. I think they were in the neighborhood of $500 new, and given they are not especially valuable I would expect to find one for under $200 these days. The one in the picture would be worth less than that to me.

ASL is short for Alpha SL Aluminum. As far as I can tell there is only one model 4500.

The mis-matched fork and wheel don't help the value and could affect handling as mentioned above. As far as value, as it sits, maybe $100.00? Just guessing. The fork/wheel would turn off myself and many potential buyers.
