Addiction 2022.3

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My general take on ethnic and other slurs is that, as Whitey McWhiteguy from Whitesville, Whitesylvania, I'm the LAST person who should be deciding what is or isn't offensive.

I do sometimes wonder whether he just stole some pics of a crappy old Schwinn Boat Anchor from Craigs List, and then posts them to burnish his "Fast guy on a **** bike" cred.

Nothing about his pics gives me the impression that he's a formidable rider. Is that something that he claims? Lol.

Well sadly that went with AG's job being far more challenging and less supported than she expected. I'm on the hook for now, but hey. Life could be considerably worse.

S.J. Perelman used to refer to sinister movie and pulp fiction Asians as “celestials.” Cracked me up.

I need a haircut and a shave so I can reclaim my kempt man status. My hair is starting look like Kelsey Grammer's in the first couple seasons of Frazier. Except white.

Trying to decide what to do tomorrow. Supposed to be 100 for a high and the club rides aren't super exciting. I could drive toward the coast and ride dirt. Probably decide at the last possible moment.

I am riding with my friends today, but it’s my on-call weekend so inevitably I am going to get paged on the ride and have to stop to put out the fire and let my friends go. My hope is I will be able to get in at least an hour with them, but it’s impossible to predict.

I tell my friends that being on call is a great example of the vagaries of the Poisson distribution, but they roll their eyes and think I am crazy. They might be right.

Speaking of anachronism.
"Paged" by your cell phone via text message?
I vote to replace paged with texted. Pagers were gone by the late 90's. TTKU
