Video showing the bike trail for Chicago bike ride
Hey guys,
I did a video showing the bike trail that im considering doing the Bike Forums ride on. I was so concerned about hosting a ride to have you guys show up and be disappointed. So I did a video called. Would this gravel trail trash my classic road bike. I did this video with a bike forums ride in mind.

Thanks for posting. I ride a Maywood-Fox River loop using different parts of the Prairie Path a couple times a year. Never had any trouble. Good reminder it's time to hit the trails again. See you out there.

the bike owners that are particular (for lack of better term) might not be too keen on riding a top condition road bike on a gravel or crushed stone trail or similar - but others will probably have little / no issue
(hybrid or converted off-road bike might be ideal)

Consider L'eroica ...
Some of the best classic riders challenged with long rides on dirt and gravel steep hills for long distances.
These bikes were made to get dirty and conquer the toughest rides, like the early tours in Italy.

No worries at all unless it's raining -- wet limestone dust is a mess!
The wall hanger queens can stay on the wall -- all others will be fine -- bikes are meant to be ridden!

I'll admit that I skipped around in the video, but did I miss a date?
Myself, I am not too concerned about "trashing" a bike on that. I might feel differently if it were really wet, but the way I think about it, my older bikes survived far worse over the years. None of the bikes that I would consider bringing are NOS. All show significant patina.
Crap, I am just now noticing the date for the initial post. I wonder if this has passed already.
