This was interesting period for Schwinn and the article looks quite comprehensive so I will definitely read it when I have a few minutes.

Many thanks for posting this.

Very interesting read, thanks for sharing. Especially interesting as I'm working on a 1987 Circuit build right now.

Bicycle Guide (Aug, 1986) profiled 4 major bicycle companies under the banner "The New American Bicycle". A model from each of their 1986 product lines was also featured in the issue. The Circuit was the featured Schwinn bike. I'll get that out next.

One interesting thing is that the pre '79 bikes that Muller wanted to get away from(or was that Richard?) are now more sought after and command a higher price than many of the Waterford build Paramounts(Elite series excepted). I suppose that it's mostly a collector thing.

Reading this makes me just a little prouder, knowing I was a tiny part of the story, wrenching at a family-owned Schwinn dealer in 1986.

I read the article and the irony is that the company seemed to have the right ideas but for myriad reasons it didn’t pan out.

I need to get my Super LeTour and Circuit roadworthy….

So, in this 80's time frame, which Schwinns were made by Giant and which Schwinns were made by Schwinn?

If only the change in management came 5-10 years earlier.
Another thing Giant needed the large contracts so badly they were ready to sell part of the company to Schwinn and were shocked it was not asked of them.
Thanks for posting.
Hint: A pdf of this would be nice.
