If you can't be "pro" you can at least look "pro".

You might be able to suck in your gut but you can't suck in your love handles.

My philosophy is - If ya look too good, they ask too much from ya, regardless of one's age. Dress down, save money for better tires and save energy for fun miles.

I'm in favor of a sharper image. Reality is over-rated.

“Remember darling, don’t be a snook. It’s not how you feel, but how you look. And you look marvelous.”

Or as I learned back in HS: Perception is reality.

I stayed on the same floor of the MSOE dorms as Alexi Grewal during Super Week circa 1977. He was a shy 14 yr old but man he looked pro when he was kitted out in his Monty of Italy gear. I thought, this kid might make it in cycling if he sticks with it.

Some of us are actually fat challenged, and we cycle while being fat challenged. Cycling helps us keep our weight down, so we are not as fat as we would be if we didn't cycle.

To all fat challenged people, go for it. Get the exercise, and don't worry about what people think of your appearance. Good on all those fat challenged people out there exercising.
