6 Speed Chain Advice

Looking for a new chain for my old 1986 vintage bike and was wondering what people are using at the moment. Looking for a descent 6 speed chain that doesnt spoil the looks of my bright red bike by being cheap looking.

Thanks

Dave

Is there something wrong with an HG71, or if you're on a budget a HG40? Both are available on Amazon.

Can't go wrong with a KMC. Any of the 6-7-8 speed chains will work.

KMC Z-series, or SRAM PC-8XX , 8-speed chain is the same as 6-sp. They come in gray, black, silver or nickel-plated, depending on your chosen level of bling.

I guess if you want to keep it period-correct, you could find an NOS Sachs Sedisport chain. They were 'the' upgrade in the 80s and 90s; there's still a pretty good market for them.

I’d go with SRAM PC-830 or 850. Yes, it’s an 8-speed chain, but it plays nice with most 6- and 7-speed systems and can be had for a reasonable sum.

SRAM PC-850 is my "standard" chain. It goes on everything but the fixed-gear and 3-speed, so I buy several at time to have plenty on hand.
