That's the kind I have. Works great. Easy to install. My balance is not so great, so it took a few rides to get fairly confident with 'em. Improved my time on a favorite local time trial route, especially on a longish gradual climb into the wind. But I'm still not confident enough to sail 'em down an undulating 3%-5% downhill segment.

That is some neat stuff. I've never done more than a club TT. Some of the IM Tri folks probably know how to use that stuff. I would put the bars on backwards and not know it was wrong.
Here is a Very Very nice MV in the L.A. area. If I was aged and getting smaller bikes, I would replace my 87 with it.

Today was truing the rear wheel (wobbler 32 holes) on my IM and dishing a bit left to create a bit room on right side for a 7 speed freewheel.
Then, I noticed one nipple was not engaging right with spoke wrench - and probably did what is not supposed to do - got a good grip and was able to un-screw it out and replace with a new nipple.
Well, started tightening the nipple and bang. The spoke just failed . Looked at my bin for spokes but I don't have anything with same/similar size.
Stopping tomorrow on a bike shop around to see if I can get a spoke .
So quick question. The 1987 IM Master has Shimano 600 SIS downtube shifters and from web literature, it is a 6 speed.
I can go friction, but not really a fan of friction myself. Is it possible to have 7 speed indexed shifting somehow working on the current shifter (I think is the 6208).
The RD, I replaced with a Deore LX I had in my bin and the 7 speed megarange (34T on big cog) seems will work if I bring the axle all the way back of the dropout.
As I read somewhere in this forum, I will probably paint the white letters on the big cog in black .

You can use 7 speed Downtube or brifters. Source some used 7 speed shimano Brifters or some new ones like @canklecat has on his trek.

No you have to have a 7 speed shifter. Or use friction for 7 speed.

Anyways, have to get a replacement spoke for the wheel before anything.

I put some MicroShift 2x7 brifters (dual control shifters, per the manufacturer's terminology) on the Trekenstein 5900 a couplafew weeks ago. Easy installation, works great. Costs around $80 new.
Coolest thing about brifters is being able to shift while standing. I tend to stand to stomp uphills and to accelerate from stops, and brifters let me shift up and down as needed without sitting to shift downtube shifters. And the Microshift left/FD shifter is also indexed, with a trimmer click for both chainring to eliminate chain rub.
I had to tweak the barrel adjusters last night to compensate for slight cable stretch since installing them 2-3 weeks ago. I noticed a few shifting glitches during a club ride Tuesday and didn't want to annoy other riders, so I fixed that Friday night. Quick and easy, worked great on my 33 mile roller coaster ride Saturday with lots of shifts for the many short, steep climbs and downhills.
The bike came with nice Dura Ace downtube shifters, which I was perfectly happy with. But a friend had those MicroShift brifters stashed away and had no use for 'em. He bought 'em by mistake, thinking they were 8 or 9 speed. By the time he realized the mistake it was too late to return or exchange them.
Both the Dura Ace downtube and MicroShift brifters worked perfectly with the Trekenstein's 1990s Deore LX long cage RD, Shimano 600 FD, and Shimano 7-speed freewheel.
---
(Note for thread topic relevance: texaspandj was right -- the Trekenstein 5900 rides pretty much like an Ironman, just 5 lbs or so lighter. BB is a wee bit stiffer. Helps my times on some climbs. Otherwise, can't say I notice a big difference from the Ironman. And the Ironman is more comfortable on rough roads.)

If had to guess, maybe some type of cable route hole, bar end or gripshift, or aero brake levers.

50cm grey Prestige sitting on the dock of Ebay. Priced at $925 obo + $137.11 shipping. At that price, it might be sitting there watching the tide roll away for a long time.

This is exciting! Someone is listing an IM in a color I have never seen before. Ultra rare. More rare than the Zunow bikes. Good price also. Shipping is steep. One of the BF members should scoop this up quickly before it's gone! I would, but I have too many projects at the moment.

That's almost as good as getting Rick rolled.

I have had a couple of Ironman Centurions, my wife still has hers. But my Prestige is a keeper. They all should have been really. But the Prestige is special, it feels Italian, quick and stable and very taut but springy and yet sufficiently stiff to sprint and climb. I would want to spread it for a modern drive train but I hate brifters for multiple reasons.
