Bill Philbrook frame builder
Just wondering if anyone knows what Will/Bill Philbrook frame stamp was, what it looked like? As I've got an old cyclocross bike which has PH stamped on BB shell on chainstay side. Any info appreciated.

Hi,
I had a frame identification query regarding Bill Philbrook too.
The Veteran Cycle Club marque enthusiast advised to 'look at the bottom bracket in the area in front of the chainstay bridge and between the chainstays, where if he built it you will find a difficult to see single small punch mark. He and confusingly Ron Cooper both used this ID.'
V-CC membership is well worth it for the knowledge available.
Bill Philbrook also made his own distinctive drop outs: the Classic Lightweights page has photographs of these.
Hope this is helpful and you can get a postive identification for your frame.

One of my favorite obscure builders. His stuff is elegant, quirky, timeless, ahead of his time, and beautiful. Bottom bracket brazing, dropouts, funky braze-ons, and mostly, the seat stay cap treatments.

A friend has a Philbrook-built Grandini that's just amazing as far as worksmanship goes. I need to dig up a photo.

I've checked that page out and others about Bill, but none actually state what the stamp mark looks like, so hoping someone could show me, so far it sounds like it's not one of his frames tho anyway.

Maker's Mark 🥃 ;)
Ive got an unpainted Ron Cooper, I'll see if I can find something,,,
I guess the small dot is \"it"? Why it's there, or what it signifies, is a mystery to me.
