This is getting old
Once again, sidelined. Plantar Fasciitis. Off everything for a week, it seems. Got the cortisone injection in the heel, wearing a night splint, and kicking back.

This was the only thing that turned the corner for me.
That and changing out my New Balance shoes every 6 months.....

Hoping you don't go through it too often. Had it several years ago. Did the exercises and all. A cortisone shot cleared it up, the exercises didn't seem to be doing the job. Wore some insoles for a while, but fine without special insoles now. Hasn't come back (4 yrs now). Wish you well-hope it clears up soon, and is gone forever.

"Those that don't learn the from the past are bound to repeat it." I'm a bit surprised, after battling PF, anyone would wear flip flops(or go barefoot..basically the same thing). That's just asking for it..

Depends on the FF. I now have a pair of Oofos, with nice cushioning and really good arch support, as recommended by the doc. The old ones were the usual "flat and hard" models. And most people wear them because most people don't have PF, I guess.

Acute plantar fasciitis is a real Bugger! Hopping the best on your recovery. I suffered for years with it and have become grateful when it is under control. I never walk bare footed. Stiff soled shoes with a rise in the heel are a must. Even when I walk from the front of the house to the back I am putting on my clogs. If I ignore these rules in just a few days... Rats... Fasciitis is back...
For your shoes you need: Solid Stiff Unbendable Sole. Some times an arch is not that important. You will also need a heel 1 1/2" to 2" / 2cm to 3cm. Even though this shifts weight to the ball of the foot it helps relive the plantar surfaces.
No flip flops, No bare foot walking, No jumping, and NO CHEAP SHOES!!!
Traditional Clogs and Cowboy Boots seem to be the best shoes for the injury. Here are a few links that have worked for me. Remember you need that heel...

Back in the day shoes would fall apart. Now shoes hold together but the built in arch flattens over time. Hence the need to change shoes often...

Now riding a Tacx/Garmin Bike Smart. Not on the road for a few reasons, but it's nice to have the indoor option. Back in the saddle in four days.
