disc brakes and smart trainer

I have been riding my bike that I purchased in 2008 on my smart trainer. I am considering buying a new bike with disc brakes. Will this affect how I can put it on my smart trainer ?

Depends on the smart trainer. My wheel-on Wahoo Kickr Snap required an adapter, which goes on the clamp side, and that comes with 3 different thru axles. These are longer than normal TAs, with an extension that goes into a socket on the adapter. To me, it feels more solid than using a bike with a QR.

I use a Wahoo KickR Core with a disc brake bike (Canyon Grail SLX8) with no issues.

Same.

The Core comes with different adapters to fit your bike's specific dropout situation, and for disc bikes, you use your bike's threaded skewer, not the included QR one.

Just make sure your trainer can be adapted to a thru-axle. Some can't, to check with the manufacturer. I rode a disc brake bike on a Neo 2T for a few years with no issues.

If the OP told us what kind of trainer they have, this conversation would be a lot more straightforward.

The switch to through axle has caused a lot of trouble for companies that make wheel-off trainers.
We need to know the trainer and the bike, because not all trainers fit every bike.
