Addiction 2022.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The Saturn is working fine, but the headliner has sagged to the point that it's brushing against my head. I may have to get some fancy spiral fabric tacks to pin it back up.

Don't you think an upgrade is in order. Diamond stitch is always nice!

Depending on the neighborhood, so do we. My ex and I lived in an area where they were quite prevalent. She would get scared by those idiots when she was in her little car. She called them dick trucks.
I worked service for 3 years in that area and there were a ton of them. Our dealer even sent new trucks out to be raised and otherwise juvenilized. Had them at the last dealer, too, but not as many modified ones. I don't like driving them. Some are so high you can't see a car on your right while sitting at a stoplight. Working on them sucks, too.

Since I have the day off, and Mrs. GJ is down in SoCal with her Gal Pals and the new puppy, I went for a ride. I generally don't ride Mondays, and treat them as rest days, so I didn't know what to expect. The first two miles I had slightly stiff muscles, but that wore off quickly. I did almost 38 miles, all of it Z1/Z2 HR zones. SO much better than riding in the late afternoon, with the headwinds and the low-angle sun in my eyes! Is this what being retired is like?

Bibs, of course. Do you think me a barbarian?

Mind you, because I have long legs/short torso, my jersey tails are always long enough to more than cover any gap there would be.

Riding when you want is part of the awesomeness of retirement. Not a lot of downside, except for the whole lack of disposable income. And I do miss some of the guys. I can remedy that part with a lunch visit later this week.

The Older Boy got us a pecan pie for Fathers Day. I say "us" because I had to share... The Younger Boy got me a box of See's chocolates. I hear some kids buy their fathers stuff like tools or crap like that. Poor bastards.

I got a Yeti Colster, a nice BBQ and some barrel aged wild ale. I’m not displeased

I got a card.

But, my daughter just bought a house and is sinking cash into it, and my son is paying for two very expensive apartments while he does his internship. So, neither are very flush right now. I was happy to see my daughter last weekend and my son joined us for dinner last night.

I was not disappointed at all.
