May have been a health condition, unless the bike tells another story... From a news article:
"Eaton was found unconscious on Long Rifle Road near his home in Summit County Friday evening following an apparent bike crash. Medical personnel arrived at the scene and Eaton was transported to a nearby hospital where he died.
The Summit County Sheriff's Office said there were no witnesses to the crash and no reason to believe a vehicle was involved in the incident. The Utah Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of Eaton's death."

So unfortunate, was sorry to hear about this.
This is the main reason why I run a camera (two actually) on any cycle - it'll tell a story when I'm found dead in a ditch.
By the way, some useless hoops trivia: blocks weren't recorded as an NBA stat until the 1973-74 season, the first season after Wilt retired. Eaton was a great shot blocker, but Bill Russell and Wilt were likely better.

A little trivia: Mark Eaton was an auto mechanic before he was discovered by the coach at Cypress College under a car.
He was also guarding Abdul-Jabbar when he made a baseline hook shot to break Wilt's career scoring record.

Heard about Eaton yesterday but had no idea of the circumstances. Sad. I remember him as a gentle giant who knew how to block a shot.
Two of my aunts went to high school with Wilt. My grandmother told them to stay away from him because he would never amount to anything.

It was always a bit of a "tongue-in-cheek" comment - like Moses wandering the desert for 40 days, maybe it wasn't exactly 40 days but it was a long time - it certainly wasn't 20K women, but yeah wow it was a lot.
I recall Wilt in an interview (w/Conan O'Brien, it's on YT) making the joke about how boards of education should be thanking him, for getting everyone thinking about mathematics... "20,000 ... starting at 15, now he's 55, 365 days in a year, so 20,000 divided by 365..." . Wilt Chamberlain was quite a character.
(He had a great sense of humor. In that same interview, Conan: "How tall are you, exactly?" Wilt: "5 foot eleven... and a half. It's a big half.")
