46-7 Paramount womens touring

Since we and I are on a roll, this has been wound up, cleaned up sorted out. It was outed here quite awhile back and I was probably the only one who got very excited about it.

Richard Schwinn and Scott Wastyn both agree it is very likely a 46-7 Wastyn built Paramount, which Wastyn is unknown.

@SoCaled, @tmnguuyen and @Kilroy1988 all helped with this, SoCaled scooped it up and held onto it, tmnguuyen arranged, picked it up and brought it to Eroica where Kilroy1988 donated the cool funky rack, a key piece for it. All these guys are the very best we have here IMO.

It got cleaned up along with the 58 and the Red 70's women's that we took to the Albany bike show. I was waiting to do this photo shoot again in the sun, didn't happen.

It was redone in the 70's with paint and decals of the day, Richard says that's when the chrome was done also and it got Weinmann rims and brakes, Schwinn Approved Atom 440 pedals, Schwinn Approved Pasella's.

The SA hub is marked 55 so hard to say when it was replaced.

The SP, binder bolt, bars, stem, HS and HB are original.

The paint is very rough in many places and ok in many too. I think it cleaned up well and am good with it, neglected makeover and all.

I am very happy this came along and ms. merziac was thrilled on Mothers day when "she" got another bike.

Now if I can just find a 60's in my size for a sane price, I'll have 4 decades covered.

Partial family portrait.

What a fantastic find and a great restoration. Considering the age, the paint, finish, decals, and chrome are all in wonderful condition. Such a beauty!

Tx everybody, just realized that I forgot to point out the entire crank and BB are original as well and in good shape, always a good thing.

Is it sexist to call a womens bike hot? Not often I lust for a womens bike but with this one I do. Smashing looks!

Tx!

I am thrilled and amused how little real excitement these generate, like any 40's bikes pop up regularly.

Yep, cranks are, I thought the ring was but checked again and no marking, still very sure it is.

I briefly entertained disassembling it but didn't as it has probably been there since new.

Always very happy when original bits are present and in good shape and most of the ones that aren't are more modern Schwinn replacements, rims, pedals and brakes so still better than what you often find.

SA hub is 55 so it was replaced along the way, no surprise but would have been very cool to find a 45-6-7 one there.

I really like the fish-mouth lugs, you don't see them often in North American bikes. Any plans to find the "proper" bits and bobs?

The only thing i would like to find right now is a matching rear caliper which is proving to be challenging, this is about as "proper" as it is going to get for the time being.

Like I said earlier, I'm glad its has the really important to me proper bits it does have, I did pick up an older shifter but don't know if it will work.

This is the caliper, I think a front or rear will work, and no, of course its not correct either but it would match the front. Maybe pedals too but they would likely not be correct.

I'm also glad it has the newer parts that it has as well since they are correct for the reboot that was done.

Such a fantastic bike. Your story of having some help in scoring, holding and transferring the bike to you reminds of some favors I've had to call to assist with similar transactions. Super cool!

Yes, looks good from here, some plenty sketchy up close, some really so but nothing life threatening or a deal breaker for me.

I know the true value would be in all original but that ain't happenin unless the parts fall in my lap.

It has a crappy Bianchi stamped front wheel and hub, cleaned up well, not obvious and not likely to change anytime soon.

Gonna get or make a hub shiner to hide it better.

Yep, amazing help to be had here with some jumping in and solving the whole thing without hesitation.
