Most rode the entirety of the 42 mile out and back course. 12 riders, excellent turnout. Mid-60's, topping out around 70 and overcast, perfect riding weather, great group of people.
Meeting BF members from other parts of the country is always a pleasure.

It was ideal weather for a ride. Enjoyed being among bicycle enthusiasts and seeing their classic machines. Chatting with 52 Telecaster. Matching faces to BF handles. Riding with the group. Special thanks to Gugie for organizing this, leading us out, herding us along. Cannot thank @aggiegrads (Steve) enough for the starting push to get me going up a grade. He was there when I fell, Tended and encouraged me on the final stretch back. Felt like his dad and appreciated the kindness. Was sore last night, expected much worse today but happily I'm much improved. See some of you again at CINO. Don

Included with the bike, is this really nice stand that Alex Moll made for me as a thank you for ferrying his bike down to Eroica California in 2016.
The bike is complete as configured when Scott rode it at Cino. Pedals and saddlebag included as well as grab bag a spare parts: a set of MAFAC competition calipers and levers (undrilled) with black hoods, 4 new kool stop 4 dot pads, and a set of NOS gum hoods. I also will throw in a spare set of Berthet Pedals if you want them. English threaded. Separately Matt had a 2nd set of wheels for it with Dugasti tubs, which went into the deal in trade for other considerations.
I bought the frame sight unseen from a well known collector Douglas Brooks aka DBRK on the Velocipede Salon back in 2012. He was clearing out a bunch of bikes at the time that no longer fit because of a recent injury. Douglas told me he bought it from the original owners’ family in Toronto. When I talked Jan Heine about it, he thought was dated to 1974, part of a multiple order of frames placed by Bloor Cycles due to it’s serial number. That’s all I know about it’s prior history.

I made one change to it. Matt had a modern bell on the stem, I swapped it out for one of my Frenchies.
I've tried a vintage Ideale saddle on another bike, it was "ok", but this one really fits my nether regions well.
I'm 25-35 pounds away from being able to ride this as-is at something like Cino or Eroica, I need a granny gear to climb those hills nowadays. It is a smooth ride, really neutral steering, easy to stand and pump up short inclines. The chrome lugs, creamy paint job and box lining are just fantastic to see in person.
I told Matt I felt more like a caretaker than an owner. Scott, when the time comes, you're on deck.

You can ask the guys I was riding with yesterday if I looked uncomfortable.

If you saw my arm length, you'd get a clue. I learned many years ago that "normal" reaches mean I cannot properly relax/stretch my torso and I cramp. I'm long, skinny and light. Not young. All a very poor combo for going upwind. Getting aero and being able to stay there comfortably for long hours is a real blessing. I raced long ago and got that drilled through my brain. When I passed storefront windows, I always looked to check that my back was horizontal. And guess what? Those facts never changed. Upwind is still a challenge and aero is still the only relief. And I never stopped riding so I never stopped riding the aero positions. Now I just set my bikes up to do that and have zero shame about it looking unusual. Also in recent years I'm learning I have to have my hands rotated little fingers down and back, thumbs forward or rides hurt and the pain lasts after. Another piece is that I am from the old-shool where on the brake hoods was not where you wanted to be when the going got rough. (Pavements, iffy riders around you, possible emergency stops, etc.) We were to set our bikes up to be all day comfortable in the drops. Those hoods are for climbing out of the saddle or like TT bars upwind alone on good roads.

If I saw a newbie set up like that I'd question it,, as it's clearly outside of the norm. Somebody like Ben who has spent decades tweeking his riding position, you just nod your head and know he's got it right for him.

Ben is an ectomorph, and he's ridden more miles than 99% of the C&V crowd could realistically claim. He's all arms and legs.

Totally. I do see lots of beginners set their bars and levers that far forward and they have real problems. But I can see how it could work with the right body type and if you put the pedals down like 79pmooney . My apologies if I've offended!
