PSA "needed": Continental GP5000's
If anyone in their online travels runs across a killer deal on Continental GP5000 tires in the tan/cream/gum sidewalsss, please post a notice on the forum, etc? Thanks in advance!
I'm riding on one set of GP5000 and the rear tire is worn to the point it should be replaced relatively soon. But I've decided I want to purge the bikes, all of them, of blackwall tires and I had been buying from Bike Tires Direct, I like them but the last few specials have been blackwall only.
My Gitane has very few miles on GP5000 in cream, 25mm. The bike has so much clearance I am thinking of trying 28's (I cannot remember the last time I had tires that wide!) and moving the near-new 25's to the Palo Alto . And buy no more blackwall tires.
And I just know there will be a great deal, and I'll buy, and at that moment they will announce the GP6000.

Doesn't look like they make them in 700 x 23 in cream or brown sidewalls...Too bad.

Have not measured to see if I have clearance for that. Gimme a break, I finally got away from 23's, 28mm seems like tank tracks to me, much less 32's.
That's where I've been buying, but $44 for black "on special" but $60 to get tan/cream sidewalls?
Thanks, but that's even higher. Meanwhile, just got back from a ride, the rear tire is slick and flat enough in the center to look like I'm running Mickey Thompson drag slicks. And I can't put down that much power.
$60, good place to deal with https://www.biketiresdirect.com/prod...e?fltr=&sg=503
Will this do? Gotta act fact, though.

I kinda watch for this stuff but have not really seen the tan/cream sidewalls cheaper, fwiw

That said, Google Search resulted in this place at $49.99, a bit more than blackwall on sale but not too shabby; Anyone have experience with Bike Closet? GP5000 700x28 Cream
Most places I ride at pretty smooth. The exception is the nearby USDA research center, a haven for cyclists for 50+ years, including me. Alas, some roads are so rough that no tire would give you a comfortable ride. Just check your headset once you get home.

I can't go above 26mm real size, e.g., 700Cx28 Contis. I can't even do Specialized 700Cx28s, which run larger.

Are these essentially a newer version of 4000s? I need new tires for the Bianchi.

Catastrophizer/enabler's take: How good are you at recovering from loss of traction of your rear wheel? If you are nimble like a cat and can stay upright then continue searching for that deal. If you hit the deck at any hint of something wrong with the connection between your rear wheel in the road then your cost calculation should be the [tire cost]-[doctor's visit copay]-[cost to replace parts you scratched when you crashed]-[cost of loss of fun times from beaing able to haul ass on a fresh tire] = [real cost] Basically, if you buy a tire now at any cost, you are saving yourself money.

The sale at Bike Closet is still on, and I might not find a better deal in the near future. Anyone ever buy from them?
99.44% sure that's true. I was using 4000's, and found a killer deal on another set and right after I got them the 5000's were announced.
+1, going from 23mm at 145psi to 25mm ad 115psi does not feel right, but I do not seem to be going any slower. So, I'll try 28's. Hmm, I wonder in 20 years everyone who now has frames that take 38 or 42 will be frustrated when the new trend is 75mm tires and the tires won't fit the "vintage" 2022 bikes.
Well, better than if had a high speed failure of the FRONT wheel!

Shipping was $10 for the pair, not too bad. The tires I am riding on should last long enough for arrival.
And I presume this will help out other forum members, because now some website will have an even better deal.

And I see today Bike Tires Direct has a one-day sale, $51.99, not bad but still a little more than Bike Closet; but free freight!

would like to try 700x28 GP5000 - but might not have room for a true 28
Conti 700x28 GP5000 run small ? close to 26mm ?

Interesting; yet again, another use for the micrometer to check all this out. IIRC, 28mm is the max size offered in the cream sidewall so, even if 32mm is actually 30mm, I'll pass.
