Santana 1 1/4" steerer headset, any cheaper options to the Chris King?

I bought a 1998 Santana Arriva cheap but it needs a new headset. I usually go with a Cane Creek 40 headset because it's a great value. Unfortunately Cane Creek doesn't appear to offer anything in a 1 1/4" steerer with 37mm cups. All I can find is Chris King and it's $160. If I must, I must but before I drop the $$ I thought I'd ask here.

this is the CK, fits perfectly and has a replaceable sealed bearing:

That looks like a typical price for that headset. Looking at a couple of the Tandem Specialist shops. Tandems East has the Tange Seiki threadless for $85.00 and Gears To Go Tandems is showing a Tange at $69.00. The Tange is the standard headset for a Santana and a very serviceable headset. You might want to call Santana customer service and see what their price is as it looks like they are using both the Chris King and the Tange.

Santana has a Cane Creek on their site for $139: Tandem-Specific Components

If you aren't in desperate need, have a search set up on Ebay as the King 1-1/4" headsets come up now and again, and go for pretty reasonable prices. In fact, there's one on there now for $70, but missing the lower crown race (usually about $12 from Chris King if I recall). https://www.ebay.com/itm/Chris-King-...0AAOSwCMFaLAXz

Can you offer any insights on the widest tires the 1998 Arriva can accept?
Thank you!!
