Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thought I was killing it with a 26’/mile ride this morning. 😎

So… been busy prepping for this foolish executive retreat in Nashville this week and haven’t posted much. Been working another opportunity with a company in PA and really thought the offer would have come through by now, allowing me to bail on this trip, but no luck. I’ve had 10 conversations, but they move pretty slow. With unvaccinated kids I really really don’t want to do this, but the optics of me not going are pretty bad, even if I have a foot out the door.

So rather than being home with my kids, I’m sitting in an airport bar at Albany International hoping I get to and from without somehow being exposed or bringing this stuff home-given the general attitude of the other execs and out CEO, I’m a little nervous. I’ll be wearing 2 masks all week.

in other news, I smoked a 10k yesterday w/ a 7:20 pace- which isn’t bad for a non-runner. I’ve decided that I want to start incorporating more running into my week, I probably could have done this at a 7 flat with a few more miles per week.

wish me luck and no Covid this week!!

Too bad the leaderboard is not based on elevation. I could be on top most weeks.

Just because I had to climb doesn't necessarily mean I was putting out a bunch of watts

A Strava person I don’t know very well but do follow posted pics of himself and his two kids riding on a MUP. None were wearing helmets. I was trying to find a diplomatic way to encourage helmet use but every line I could think of surely would make me sound like a French Shower, so I chose to let it go.

Kinda like the neighbors growing skeeters in their yard. No easy way to get the message across and have everyone feel ok about it.

Sailing is a lot more work than I had imagined. But it was fun. I even got to steer. 39’ boat originally from Canada. Only about 28 miles to get to Burlington because I took the direst way that avoided a section along Champlain due tp a 15-20 mph headwind. Lots of ups and downs. Day off tomorrow. Going to ride as much of the Island Line Causeway as possible. If the shuttle is operating to take you across the gap caused by the missing swing bridge I’m hoping to have clam strips for lunch.
