Nice morning Autumn ride
Went out to my favorite playground to roll out a cool crisp 31 mile ride. I was debating on arm and leg warmer but opted to go will knee high socks and bare arms. For me anything in the mid 60's is cold this time of year. Of course as winter ends this temp feels like summer. I knew I'd warm up once I got some miles under my legs, and decided to add a bunch of climbing early to speed that process up. So when do other start to layer up a bit heading toward winter ? I once had one of my worker wear shorts all year long, and enjoyed watching him when snow was coming down hard cleaning off his car.

It was a beautiful day here in NE CT too. Three of us went out for 23 miles at 14 mph. It was windy at 10 mph which was a headwind for the final 8 miles. But, just a great day.

That's sounds like a fun ride, I'm solo 99% of my rides but company cam be nice to help pass the miles.

Autumn...
This is the time in Maine when you have to start adding clothes. Up to now it's been trying to stay cool in the heat and humidity. First come heavier socks, then heavier gloves, then two shirts, then long tights under shorts, then two pairs of socks, then a third shirt, then a skull cap under helmet, then aluminum foil between stock layers; then hang it up for Winter!

Not that brave; I'd probably get run over by a snowmobile. Where I live, I could ride some gravel roads that are plowed by the town and have a layer of hard snow/ ice, if I got studded tires. To darned cold though, from Jan. through March. I'll stick with walking the gravel roads with Stabilicers strapped to my LL Bean snowwalkers. Oct. and Nov. are still good for several gravel bike rides per week, though. I stay off the paved roads once the sun gets lower and visibility gets tricky for drivers going in and out of shadows. Safety first at 65 years young!
