Zizzo Urbano w/ 53T chainring shifting problem

Hi all

I recently installed a 53T litepro chainring and a set of litepro cranks on my Zizzo Urbano. The stock chainring was 48T and if shifted perfectly fine. Currently it shifts fine, except for the chain derailed on me once going from 5th to 6th gear and the chain makes a noise when I am pedalling in 8th gear. It kinda sounds like the chain is skipping? I'm not sure. It is an 8 speed bike just for reference. I figured it's either I need to add links to the chain or perhaps the chainline is not correct now because of the cranks? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Did you add links to your chain to account for the larger chainring?

I didn't, I have heard that stock chains are usually too long. So I decided to see how it would react with the same chain.

I replaced an old 52 chain ring with a 53 lite pro ring. That was a small change which didn't cause an issue with gear change. I will replace the 53 with a 47. This will probably require shortening the chain. Changing rings does create a need to make adjustments to the chain length.

You need to check the chain length and chain line. If too short, there will be too much tension and the derailleur cage will struggle to guide the shift. If the New chainring offset is different than the one removed, the chain will bend more a the extreme causing shifting difficulty and noise.

Basically, everything needs to be rechecked (including cable tension).
