8spd internal hub recommendation for ebike
Presently my ebike has a 3spd mid drive so thinking to upgrade the rear wheel width along with 12ga spokes and might as well upgrade the 3spd to an 8spd. What is a durable 8spd internal hub to buy out there? I heard shimano SG-C6001-8D is the one to buy but of course it's discontinued and nobody has it for sale anymore new.
Are there any other reputable brands? I do understand I won't be changing gears when throttling to prevent internal damages.

I found a vendor in Japan to be able to get me a SG-C6001-8D. Yes the Shimano Alfine 11 Di2 is a nice choice too as the shifter is electronic. Both are said to work well with Ebikes under stress. The crème of the crop is Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 but too much for me right now and maybe forever. Im curious as how well is a electronic shifter work over time with the alfine 11 di2 though. Both approximately the same price.
ok at 14 gauge spokes yes lighter and good enough.

How strong is your motor? I broke two Shimano Nexus 8 IGH hubs with my BBS01 motor (80nm) before switching to an Enviolo CVT this spring (see my blog post). Nexus Inter-8 & Alfine are rated to 48nm, Nexus Inter-5e is rated up to 70nm, beyond that you're better off with Enviolo Heavy Duty Cargo (100nm).

My motor is a CYC X1 pro Gen2 which is rated at 3000watts, but my battery setup is 52v 8ah 60A continuous which most likely doesn't use the 3000watts motor to it's fullest. Presently I got a SHIMANO Nexus SG-3D55 3-Speed Internally Geared on the bike. Everything has been running fine and I don't abuse it such as doing wheeies, or change gears while racing it. However I do speed test and race other ebikers but i change gearing when not throttling.
Reason I prefer a 8spd is to gain more top end than my current 3spd. My 3spd on 3rd gear tops out at only 41mph. I'll be satisfy to hit 50mph+.
Would you know how you may have broke your Nexus 8 IGH hub? I will surely consider a hub that can do 100nm if needed.

There is a limit set by the hub manufacturer regarding the ebike motor watts as well as the spoke gauge, get those specs first before deciding which hub to buy.
