What is cdn.viglink.com and why won't BF pages fully load?

All BF pages seem to be trying to import https://cdn.viglink.com/api/merged.js

For me, I get no response. Not blocked, just endless waiting. Like skimlinks, perhaps. Except that it worked.

Supposed to be a more transparent version of skimlinks.

SB, are you surfing from work? You had trouble viewing images hosted at Facebook earlier. Perhaps one or both sites are filtered on your employer's network?

^Yes. Different behavior than I'm used to. The viglink request wasn't blocked, it just sat there waiting.

Facebook has always been blocked, I thought perhaps that the updated privacy stuff in FB might have changed the behavior of requests where there is no valid session. But I could be wrong.

SB, I'm still looking into the second part of your question. What browser and OS are you using? That info will help me troubleshoot it. The only browsers I can replicate this with are IE 6 and an Alpha version of Firefox that's a couple generations out from release.

Are you allowing the viglink as an exception in to your scriptblocking or adblock? It is a safe URL for you. It won't insert any malware on your computer.

I don't have either on my work computer. I didn't get much of a chance to try today. It didn't act like it was blocked on our end, it just sat there waiting.

Usually when something's blocked at work, we'll get the response rewritten with "site blocked, yadayadayada " and a 200 response code. I'll check later.

I'm logged in from my work computer and the site is loading. It has some interesting headers, including references to midstream proxies...
