The wind shifted overnight bringing us a more seasonable temperature in mid 60'sF, but was still very windy. First bike ride in 3 days, and I was quickly reminded it was Friday with all the heavy traffic. So I headed to a neighborhood I've explored once before.
Then on the rebound, I noticed a road I've never been on before, so off I went on a spur of the moment. What a beautiful ride out of town, on a smooth, newly repaved road with nary a pothole, across rolling hills, out into the countryside, with large country estate style homes, horses, cows, poultry, etc. I stayed on the main road, but noticed plenty of other roads for future explorations.
Got in 3 hours and 10 minutes,

18.4 miles (29.6k). Finally a sunny day yesterday but high winds, no ride. Mostly sunny today and warmer than the 40° start would seem. I overdressed.

Late morning start. Only had time for a 30 mile ride today. Another charity ride tomorrow along the Gulf Coast Beaches.

53 miles on a 53° day. Those of us living in snow country think of 50°+ weather as balmy, summer like, break out the sun screen weather, but it's not. Still need medium weight gloves, tights and a jacket. 5 big hills on this ride, I'm a little out of shape.

50yo !!!! Young whipper snapper BTW, nice ride - the wife and I sold Motobecane in our shop back in the 70's-80's

The 101 miles this past Tuesday were much, MUCH easier than this morning's 101 miles. Must be those 4 extra days closer to 68 years old.

38 miles Saturday morning. Thought about joining a group for a metric century but my neck said nah. Went my own way, had to remind myself this was supposed to be an easy ride and not push it on all the usual places.

Did the annual, Ride 4 the Animals charity ride this morning to benefit rescue dogs. Was thinking of doing the 62 mile route but one of my riding buddies, who didn't finish the last 62 mile ride we did, had signed up so I changed it to the 32 mile route. Had some steep climbs on two major bridges along the beach (out and back) and I had to wait at the crest for him on each climb. Then he caused me to have a very minor crash before he missed the turn back to the starting point and got lost. Took him awhile to get back to the starting point, but he eventually made it back.

Nice day riding with a small group of 9, out of North Bend, WA on the new Middle Fork Rd.
It would be inappropriate to guess the ladies ages, but the guys were all 50+. Several 65+, too.
Almost all on vintage bikes. 4 Masi, 1 Colnago, 1 Pinarello, 1 Mondia, 1 Davidson, and a Calfee.
Cool, breezy, but sunny.
Snow forced a turnaround before the end of the road but about 35mi.

i checked with the old guy on the classic red Mondia Super.
He said it was purchased a few years ago as a heavily discounted item online. Company is 'Club Ride', he had never heard of them, but couldn't pass up the cheapo price. Minimizes the Mamil look even when worn with long lycra tights.

BTW, the old guy isn't as fat as he looks in he pic, he just doesn't comprehend the word fashion.

A buddy of mine (not yet 50 ) picked up a new 2018 Fuji Absolute 2.3 hybrid a couple of days ago, so I got out my '13 Fuji Absolute 2.1 and did a nice easy 7 mile spin with him on a local greenbelt near our houses. It was nice to work out a bit of stiffness from yesterday's 27 mile ride with an easy spin this morning.

Cheers,

13.9 miles (22.4k). Gloomy ride following a rain storm, the mountains were covered in mist. The weather web site originally said "mostly sunny" but the clouds didn't read that.

Followed up an easy 7 mile ride on my hybrid this morning (see above) with a 22 mile ride into a brutal north wind this afternoon on the old Motobecane Grand Touring. I need one of them newfangled aero carbon things I've read about!

Put on 9.0 miles around our area on my wifes first ride on her, "new to her" recumbent trike. 50F sunny and breezy but it was FUN to see her GRIN on the trike!

First day of Daylight Saving Time 2018 and not a lick of Sunshine today!

But, no precip and above freezing (40ish) so enjoyed an 11 mile ride.

In between snow storms here in CT ... had a foot this past Wednesday with more to come on Tuesday. Really wanted to get out this past weekend to start getting back in shape for the spring. Short 18 mile ride on Saturday, then longest ride of the calendar year so far at 42 miles on Sunday ... a cool day in the low 40s but sunny. Good day ... now just hoping the next storm passes us by!

Rode the 'light gravel' bike for about 35mi on the Snoqualmie Valley Trail.
30mm Schwalbe tubulars.
What made it Special? = 1st Ride of the Year in Shorts!!! And a good riding companion.
And the Harding/Holdsworth Special.

edit: Top of page positioning deserves a 2nd, more scenic pic.
Snoqualmie Falls at low flow level - not from today's ride.

59 miles. Weather sites have been saying it would be 65° today for several days. It never got near that warm, but I was warm enough in my short sleeve jersey with arm warmers and leg warmers. Wasn't as sunny as yesterday, but the sun did come out for the last 1/2 of the ride. Going to have rain mixed with snow the next 4 days. I wanted to get in a nice long ride before the weather changes.
