Aging a bike
Why is aging a bike so damn difficult. I can't find any info that actually matches my bike, I've found that it was only made 94-98, yet there's a 20-21 version. None of these were available in my frame size unless I'm misunderstanding the sizes, also the only ones with my brake system is 20-21 version but I know it's older cos I've had it few years and it was owned by at least 2 others before me, also the metal decal states it has an aluxx frame but only the nwet ones seem to have it.
I've tried checking the serial number but all I can find is it was never registered on bike register or reported stolen. Which I guess is a good thing
Anyone have any way to age this bike, giant atx 860. 19 inch frame, 26 inch wheels, shimano deore hydraulic brakes. Suntour forks

I mean use colors to age the bike.

Not sure if it helps. But... Few pics of frame and bits. Sram x9 rear mech, sram 7.0 front mech. Shimano deore br-m535 calipers f&r, shimano deore bl m535 levers, fully hydraulic. Suntour duro crankset 22/32/44 ,not sure brand of cassette 12-32.but 3x9 speed. suntour ncx lite air forks w/ remote lockout. Doubt original but came with schwalbe City jet tyres

I'm guessing it's a UK or European bike.
Something offered over there, that wasn't offered in the US market.
The disc brakes tells me after 2000. I'd like to guess 2007. But the graphics says more like after 2010.
Anyways I'm batting empty. My only clue was "paint" which was found in your other post.

Yeah it's wierd(to me). According to Web the atx 860 was94-98 then 2000, but surely we wasn't using hydraulic brakes 25 years ago?

Thanks for new photos and components, but it didn't help. Only thing image search matches comes up with is security questionable websites , like clothing , pharm , etc..... all foreign.
It was a fun 2 hours of searching though, but I'm giving up for now.

I had a hope that this would be a thread about applying weathering using an airbrush. I constantly read about people doing it in Fine Scale Modeler, but I never seem t get it right.

A 2008 atx has hydroformed top tube.
Your bike must be older than 2008....

Your components have manufacturer's date codes on them. Use your crankset, which is likely original. This is the frame that you mentioned wanting to paint? I didn't say anything on that thread, but will take this opportunity to say...don't paint it. Simply touch up the scrapes and ride it.
