And its not even November. On yesterday's ride i reached my goal for the year. last year i rode 2013 miles. i set a goal of an average of 100 mi/week for 2020. yesterday i reached 5216 miles. very very happy. i found more time to ride and now everything else i'll use as a gauge for next year's goal.
how are you all doing on your goals (if you set one).

I am currently 450 miles short of my 5000 mile goal. Strava had a challenge for the 5 k distance for the year. If I can stay motivated for a while longer , it should be done before Thanksgiving.
Congratulations on making your goal. It is very satisfying to work hard and accomplish a worthwhile goal.

Congratulations spelger! And I know exactly how you feel. I started the year with a 3000 mile goal thinking that would be next to impossible. When I hit 2500 miles I upped it to 4000 miles. Then 5000 miles and today I did it, hit 5000 miles for 2020. I'm totally pumped about this, 20 months ago I couldn't ride two miles without thinking my heart was going to jump right out of my chest. My goal for the year is now at 6000 miles, I'm confident I will get there and thinking about upping it for next year. I share in your joy!
I'm at 5007 miles for the year and can hardly believe it!

All of you are truly impressive. Congrats to all who hit or exceeded their goals. What a group.

I'm also grateful to the friend who loaned me the trainer. I had occasionally wondered about getting one but definitely not any more. I'd far rather brave almost any weather than do half an hour on a trainer. I can't see that riding a virtual route would make a lot of difference, either, and I'd rather spend that sort of money on a decent upgrade for the bike.

400mi short of my goal as of today.
its been raining or below 40 for the last 8 days so I havent ridden outside. Im hoping to get out for a few long rides in the next couple weeks to make a solid dent in the 400mi. I have 0 desire to ride for a few hours when its below 40 though.

I don’t really have an annual mileage goal, per se, but in the last few years I’ve come to expect that I’ll bike about 4,000 miles per year. That was typically about 100 miles per week for all but 1 to 2 seriously wintry months.
However, I’m a bit over that this year. Switching a few things has really improved my saddle comfort and allowed me to extend the length of my rides.
So I’ve been going more like 150 miles per week when weather and schedule cooperate, which they did for the last few months!

My goals over the last few years were to simply ride more than the previous year. I had taken a break from cycling (combination of knees, life, etc.) and wanted to get back. I reached 1670 miles this year, in 5 months of cycling. I was hoping to get to 2,000, but season always is cut short by harvest (loaded semis flying by at 65mph).
However, I looked back at last year. Last year was like 350 miles, and the year before was like 150. So it is going in the right direction.
Congratulations to all, meeting goals or not. I had forgotten how much I like to ride.

Congrats Spelger. As of y'day, I have 6644 miles ytd. I set what I call a soft goal early in the year, 7000 miles, which I upped to 7320 to give me an avg. of 20 miles a day for all of 2020. It is a leap year. I wanted to be within 800 miles of that by the end of October, so, I am ahead of that. This is my 6th, maybe 7th, year in a row with over 4000 miles, after never hitting that number before.
The past couple of weeks, my mileage has dropped due to weather and other obligations. That is actually a good thing as I was getting a bit obsessed with the number of miles. I think, for the year, the most days off in a row is 5, and the most days in a row with a ride is 16. The only other year I set a mileage goal was 2017, passed 6000, with 232 days in a row with a ride.

When I retired a few years ago, I upped my goal to 5000 miles a year, which I hit the first 3 years. Being retired, that still gave me plenty of time for a real life too.
This year, with lots of solo riding I will be happy with 4000. Anything over about 40 miles alone gets kind of boring and hard to get motivated to get up early and drive to a start.

I hate the trainer as well, so I got rollers this year. So far really enjoying them. Can't say the time goes by any quicker but the risk of falling and hurting myself adds a level of excitement.

My goal this year was 200km a month. I'm currently at 2265km for the whole year, so not far off now. And this was with basically not riding at all for the first four months of the year due to the Covid lockdown here in China, so I've been riding a lot more than my goal since May, including 675km last month (my biggest month of riding in something like 7 years).

I'm not a fan of trainers either, though it's not the boredom that gets me - it's having no wind due to movement causing a lot more overheating and sweat than you'd get if you were actually out riding.

you may not be a fan but when using a trainer you should use a fan.
