bicycles on "Father Brown Mysteries"

My wife and I are big fans of Mark Williams' portrayal of a Roman Catholic priest / amateur detective in the PBS television series, "Father Brown Mysteries," which is set in the early 1950s. He rides what looks to me like an English 3-speed roadster, but I can't place it more precisely than that.

Hadn't heard of this show. Found this pic from a different BF thread that says it's a Pashley. Father Brown's bicycle? - Bike Forums

Have you noticed that the silhouette intro to the show has the Father riding a bike with a sloped top tube?

It's a fun show. My wife loves it, so I've secondhand-watched most of it as well.

Anachronistic brake levers, pedals, Schwalbe tyres 😁 and possibly even the riser stem. Luckily doesn’t detract from the show.

Great show always a good mystery. An it is not predicable. He rides the bike in every show. Need to have a show where someone steals his bike.

Yup! First thing I noticed too. And as the thread I linked pointed out, the pedals, stem, headset spacers too. The rest of it looks passably vintage, but really the whole bike is new! Looks like a Pashley Roadster Classic with the front reflector removed and everything painted black. Roadster Classic | Mens 3 Speed Bicycle | Pashley

A flat tire could add some nice tension to a scene. Can't remember if that's happened yet or not.

One of my favorite shows👍😁 binge on it and the original Fr. Brown from 1974, through Apple TV+\Acorn. Have a friend that rides a similar classic, they are some kind of heavy.🥴

Seem to recall a thread here about the Pashley model the Fr Brown bike was made from, a while back.

I've heard that BITD some priests preferred loop frames.

Padre Brown's first bicycle was replaced after he was hit by a van. I forget which season. Sid bought him another one that looked pretty much the same.
His bike varies from episode to episode. Sometimes his bike has a modern Sturmey front drum brake. Sometimes its a vintage steel drum.
Anybody have any racy pictures of Bunty?

And caliper brakes. And a chainguard instead of a chaincase.

Yeah, yeah, yeah; when there are no cooking shows on, I skip PBS and especially UK content. Maybe if they had a murder-at-Goodwood episode.

Man, if you can't get excited about this, you might want to see your doctor.
