Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A lot of the roads there have little-to-no shoulder and high speed limits that are routinely exceeded. I tend to avoid those, unless it's just a short stretch. For as many deer and blind curves as they have, people there drive like *******.

Nope, not in the least. A lot of people don't get his humor, just like a lot of people don't get British humour. If you do get it, though, it's apparent that he's a super chill guy.

Be sure to watch the video so you'll know what mistake not to make on your next Everesting effort.

Having a Heathpack dessert. Deglet noor dates and raw almonds. She would also have home made ice cream and a margarita.

I thought it was a very serious video shot in front of "The Wattage Cottage."

Phil's not a serious cyclist. He advocates waving to other cyclists even if they have their sock height all wrong, among a number of other unforgivables.

I just bought some socks that come at least three inches above my malleoli. Pactimo, no less. I have gone full Fred.

Doing it at 7500 feet is not all that easy, either.

Maybe if I double the mileage I've been doing for a number of weeks I could survive it again.

My feet stick to the inside of my shoes, if I don't wear socks. It's kind of annoying.
