In my opinion, you need to learn your bike a bit. Every ride need not be a hammerfest, or a competition within yourself to bump up the average speed. Learn the big and little chain ring when you have time to absorb what's actually happening. Experiment. See what happens when you swap gears and chain rings at the same speed. Just stuff....
Prolly right, the spacing just bothered me this morning.

I know my rings and I know my small and large cogs and that's about it. I don't know what the other cogs are and I never looked at them. I also never think about what cog I'm in while riding except when I'm in the lowest one. Sometimes I force the shifter to make sure it's all the way at the end.
I've had everything from 5 speed to 11, triples to one by, and I always go by feel.

If ours broke, I would get a double-walled steel one, but I have already epoxied the handle and now it will last until I drop it overboard while dumping grounds on a morning when I don’t feel like diving in after it.

I’m actually surprised I haven’t been able to find other options for a combination French press/mug that is portable. I’m talking something you make the coffee in and drink straight from it. I had one from REI, but the lid broke. There is at least one titanium press out there, but you can’t drink from it. I want something that is going to keep the coffee hot when it’s cold in the morning.

I had one back in the 70s. Best vehicle I've ever owned. Mine was orange with diamond tuck interior. Kick down 3 speed transmission was the schizz
