I splurged and bought a Nitto S65 seat post. I always have liked how they look and found a decent deal on one so thought it would be a good match with the C17. I also picked up a set of kool stop mountain pads for the rear brake and finally have some rear brake stopping power.

Love the C17 on the XO, and I ordered one as well when I saw the deal that was mentioned here.
I think I've decided to go with flared drop bars on my XOXO build. The bike will be used primarily as a road based commuter and occasional touring bike. Just need to decide on the drivetrain and I can get things ordered.

Yes though just on a home bathroom scale with repeatability of around 0.4 lbs, so I don't know how useful the info is. In any case I measure 8 lbs for my 60cm frame and fork with headset installed.

was riding on the trail of the cour d' alenes today and a fellow stopped and because he recognized the handsome. he said he has an orange 53 frame set he is waiting to build up and was an original purchaser. he said while he was waiting for his frame set he was able to find a Bridgestone XO also in orange in Spokane. I totally forgot to tell him about this forum.

Going to give clip-less a go with the XOXO. So….a quick poorly masked brush job without my readers-touch ups needed.

I hope Boyd’s Grape Pearl is a close match. (I see I missed some tape)

I ride clipless as well and that actually looks pretty cool. I wonder how durable it will be? I might cover up the red with orange if I thought it would not flake right off.

I liked your red pedals which inspired me, and have found a set of Ritcheys online. Hoping to pick them up too.

Oh no! That’s like a wire brush strand. Wow.
I saw some weirdness on a trail by me yesterday that made me think possible flats. I was going to take a blower down it later today to be safe. There’s some odd bits of trash I try to pick up, but there were a couple spots where it looked like someone had dumped and spread sawdust, or clay or wood litter. No sign of tree cutting in those spots.
seems some ignorant neighbor(s) have been laying sticks across the trail through the summer, and asphalt chunks/rocks in the entrance to it.
I avoided the wood chip/litter piles at the time, but need to go have a look before passing thru there again, at speed.

so discovered another possible snafu by whoever put my bike together. the rear hub has a road freehub the hubs are the route 32 which are road bike hubs. the 1x11 and it came with a 11 speed cheapo chinese 11-42 cassette made by vg sports. It weighs a ton. I decided to replace it with an XT 11-42 that is considerably lighter. when removing the vg sport cassette I though good Handsome installed a mtb free hub on the road hubs as there was no spacer. I noticed there was movement in and out but thought was probably normal. when I put the XT cassette on there was all kinds of movement because the xt does not have all the cogs riveted like the vg sport does. I measured the free hub and it is a road freehub so requires a spacer when using a mtb cassette. it is the little things sometime. anyway used a 1.85mm spacer and adjusted the derailleur and the shifting with the new cassette is sooo much nicer...just did a 77 mile ride and no more that chain jumping up and down shifting to a higher gear with every down shift when under power, was fine on the flats but as soon as I started climbing it would always drop down a cog. not sure if it is because the upgraded cassette or that the spacer was missing. regardless the $90 for the new xt cassette was money well spent, it is about 6 ounces lighter too boot.

I’ve had my bike a week and still haven’t taken it on a ride. My front brake cable is routed very poorly and I’m just not in the mood to recable it right now.

went back to the B17 it s much more comfortable on 50 mile rides. I wanted to like the C17 as much and it is fine for 25-35 mile rides but the B17 does not even begin getting uncomfortable at 50 miles. The B17 and Nitto post weigh exactly the same as the Handsome post and the C17
804 grams.

let's see a photo of how they routed it? also is your rear wheel centered between the chainstays? Mine does not center it has a wider gap on the crank side by like 4-5mm. not so noticeable visually with the 1.75 tire but with the rtp very noticeable.

curious-do you think it is more about the fabric texture/friction, or the support of the rubber hammock itself? I’ve had a leather Brooks (or Ideal?) years ago, and plan to get another (the B-15) but thought I’d give the cambium a try also.
Could it be a matter or pulling the stem and moving the cable to the other side of the bar?

I think it is a combination of the material (the b17 allows you to easily slide around on the seat for those little adjustments) and the b17 just seems to mold to my shape better. I really wanted to love the c17 and I like it but don't love it. I love my b17. The c17 will be great on my serotta for those 25-30 mile rides.
Not sure why heytchap won't show his cable routing.....not too many ways it can be run. Pedals look great.
