Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I like this one:

This thread is going to be locked down so fast it will make all of your witch hunting heads spin!
(Almost sounds like Pcad's been moonlighting on the tri forum )

I am inclined to agree with pcad. Jen has always had high moral standards in the past, I dont think she would do it.

Mostly preaching to the choir, but worth a watch. The first 60 seconds might make Solo's head pop, though.

The evidence presented in the ST thread moved me past this. This post is pretty significant (there are other pieces as well).

This Fall, first we bought two iPhone 5's (for me and Mrs. Pcad). Then I got a new MacBook Air. Then I'm getting an iPad Mini for Xmas. Then before the end of the year I have to buy a 27" iMac (desktop computer) for the office.

So don't blame the recent collapse in the price of APPL shares on me.

Herbie, I was told that you were the poster who pointed out the missing splits.

If so, I'm sorry for whatever I've done to have made you take that action. I had to deactivate my Facebook today after some kind Slowtwitch posters continued the "witch hunt" over there. It's not been the best year for me, and I'd prefer not having some idiots attempt to slander every aspect of my life.

I didn't cut the course. I shared some information with the IM head referree and have not yet received a reply. As of this time, my understanding is that I have a DQ for the missing splits. To also be fair, I have also not been told that the timing chip wasn't working. If anyone wants to talk in PM I'm happy to do so, but honestly, I'm bowing out of this publicly to protect my safety.

In the end the only real victim of anyone cheating in a situation like this is themselves as far as I can see. What other fallout would there be? It's more sad than anything else. In pro sports like cycling the dopers are cheating other pros of results, salary, opportunities, etc., but here it seems the damage would be self-inflicted. I wouldn't ever see the point of cutting a course to finish, and I've dropped out of enough bike races to prove that. I mean, you're only doing it to compete with yourself, and if you don't race honestly, what have you accomplished? A cheesy medal and a photo of you finishing acquired under false pretenses?

I just don't get the motivation for that. Strange brand of narcissism. My own narcissism takes other forms, like deluding myself I could be a potential local bar band star. Of course it's arguable that by playing and singing in public, I have far more victims than anyone who cuts an Ironman course.

Like I said, I believe Jen on this.

I am not sure what you are talking about. I asked you about the run splits in this thread. You said something about the chip not working and that was that. From what I read in ST, that is simply not the case. There is just too much evidence that does not fit what you have said.

Please don't anybody bring any tri-geek witch hunt drama over here. iJen is one of ours, we love her, and I suggest we all take the high road and leave this be.

Like I said, I believe her, ultimately nobody can prove anything either way, this isn't the venue for that anyway, and that's as far as this should go.

On another front, I won the election tonight. Not that it was tough, I wasn't running against anybody. It's a great club, and I've learn a lot cycling-wise from members there over the course of the last several months. I hope I can do them proud.

Not me, other than that djones and her music crew really like drums, based on tonight's performance.
