Good man and smart move! They're interesting platform bikes, i.e., you can adapt them to all sorts of interesting formats. The chrome on mine was sloughing off like a snake shedding its skin, so I wound up sanding it reasonably smooth and slathering on the black Rustoleum - it blends right in! Then I went sans derailleur and created this bike, currently running 42/44T chainrings with 17/19T Surly Dingle for 70-in fixed pavement and 60-in fixed gravel gears, with 20/22T Dos Eno freewheel for about 60-in leisure and 52-in gentle singletrack capabilities.

first I want to see what I have. I cleaned the rust off the forks. I test rode it with some 700c wheels I have which are the same size as the setup set that was on it. Nothing major wrong except the wheel sets crooked in the fork unless of course you purposely center is as you clamp it. Then it rolls real straight and is very light. I am going to use a t.a. cyclotourist crank on it so I can have better ratios. The 3 pin crank may go on my super course 3 speed, where the 42 tooth ring should be perfect. I also can see that 35s and fenders should work on the competition. Beyond some cleaning and greasing I think I'll probably ride this a bunch. Might be my "fast bike".

Trek 620 - $120 (TEMPE)

New tires and tubes. In good condition. If there are any collectors out there this is a cheap investment

Right and not sure why it's so heavy. I've have had several of the Lemond 853 frames and it's so easy to get them under 20 lbs built up with pedals, bottle cages, etc. 23 lbs seems pretty heavy even if the wheels are boat anchors.

Top-of-the-line Japanese Bianchi MTB. A bit pricy but the style points are high on this one.

https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/b...380507460.html

1989-90 Bianchi Super Grizzly - 19.5” - $525

Mostly original 19.5" Bianchi Super Grizzly mountain bike! Bike is in "barn find" condition and is ready to be refurbished or reimagined as your anything bike.

Original parts include full XT group (including XT pedals), celeste colored housing, cables, brakes and levers. Front wheel and tires have been replaced and if you look closely you can see some areas of black touch up paint on the frame. Frame is black with celeste speckles. Standover height is 29.75".

Bike has not been tuned up and is sold as is. I believe this is a 1989-1990 Super Grizzly.
