Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Me too, particularly when the detour isn't favorable and the construction isn't very long. Sadly, I could not shoulder my bike and traverse the missing bridge.

I just had to wade through ddos protection before getting back in. I thought it was just the laptop, but the phone did it too. Who would want to ddos bikeforums?

Yeah, 2 raw apples in a day no problemo. It's nice to mix it up though. A cameo and a Fuji maybe

Yeah, I've been getting cloudflair, too. Maybe we should check the recently banned for our list of suspects.

Of course. Bonus points if you can make sweeping generalizations based upon their appearance.

I did a missing bridge once. There were boulders. Hopping was kind of tricky with a bike on my shoulder.

Cyclocross training came in handy that day.

On the subject of Japanese steel, I just ordered a couple handsaws. Gyokuchos. I had been thinking of getting a decent hand saw even before I cut my finger. And I cut it while doing a job that was made for a Japanese handsaw, that I already had. I was in a hurry and did a dumb thing. These ship from Japan and are due late July/early August. A crosscut/rip saw and a replacement blade for the Doguchi I've had for years. Maybe I won't have to go back to using power saws. I will admit to being gun-shy. And I don't plan on building full size doors again anytime soon.

I just had a pre-lunch sparkling margarita:

1 part tequila
2 parts OJ
1 part Marg mix
3 parts lime flavoured Tropo Chico

Yummm.

The house has been free of beer for a couple of weeks now. I really need to do something about that.

It seems to be Haas avocado season. Each and every one is perfect. 30 years ago they cost $.50 apiece. They still do.

I remember in the early 90s they'd occasionally go on sale for $.25 apiece in Portland.

Then for a few years in the aughts they wouldn't go below a buck, and I pretty much stopped eating them.

When I left, my wife was trying to explain the difference between left- and right-click

Just got back and, thankfully, they're video-chatting.

I still feel like an ******* fondling dozens of avocados at the store, in the middle of a pandemic, but at least I usually do so right after sanitizing my hands.
