Hi,

I have a set of Specialized Future Shocks (the Carbon/Titanium combo) that are in need of a rebuild. Does anyone on the forum know of a mechanic who could restore a set of these? The specific issue is that the inner parts on one side of the fork are binding and grinding against the inner walls, so the shocks don't rebound as they should. I disassembled them, cleaned them, and filled them with new oil, but that didn't solve the problem.

Did you see if your model was part of the recall? Did you check with your Specialized dealer? Being proprietary, I would start there.

Hi - thanks for the note. That's a good question. I don't know if these were recalled. Somehow I think the previous owner would have known, and stopped using them if they were. I will check that out though. Don't want them to delaminate in a spectacular fashion....

Sounds like new bushing time, they the mag 21 versions?

Either that or time to make a fork lamp

I believe they are the mag 20 type.

Best bet would be to post over at retrobike.co.uk chances are someone there has experience or parts needed to get that fork going again. Or perhaps they know who can do the service.
