Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Might as well get it all out there.

I have not yet taken my meds this morning.

In this video he rides with his heavy-laden rig through a four-mile, two-lane tunnel with a 9% slope. Crazy.

It's also above the Arctic Circle.

When I was at the shop, I splashed out on some ProLight SLX and I love those things to death, still. Not that I've put in like ANY significant miles on them in the last 2 years. My bowling shoes got primary useage after I put the Crockett together.

They aren't keeping him down on purpose at this time. So far he's still out, and only response so far have been brain stem activity (a cough while clearing his lungs), and a toe twitch.

I had a different friend with a primary brain tumor that underwent surgery about 6 years ago where they removed a grapefruit sized portion of his brain. He was I think completely out for a day, and then after that it was a very slow return to function, but he has had a remarkable recovery (he's himself, just has issues with walking and balance, etc) and is still around today.

So I'm hoping what I'm seeing for my currently hospitalized friend is not permanent damage, but rather just his brain on it's own healing schedule from the trauma. I could be wrong, feel free to dash my hopes, I'm a fan of the truth.

I love all his movies. My favorite is "Get Shorty". But the surprise plot twists in "Pulp Fiction" are fantastic.

It's one of the longest ever made, but yeah, it's pretty good. Clint, Eli Wallach, Lee Van Cleef . . .

NOT the greatest, though.

No, not opposed to vegetables at all other than junk food is cheaper!

I was on a doctor supervised, primarily vegetable and protein diet a few years ago and lost quite a bit of weight but after a year or so, I regressed and rapidly gained back 3/4 of the weight that I lost. My palate seems to crave grease. Sugary stuff and bread products really aren't a problem but deep fry something and I'm all over it.
