Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I had told her about my Trek and she had said "Oh. I was hoping you'd have a pretty pink bike" so I thought "What the heck? A bike is a bike" and I borrowed a pink Schwinn step-through from the shop. It wasn't a cruiser. It had gears. Unfortunately, it didn't have low enough gearing to get me up to the top of the steep hill and - no matter how hard I pedaled - I couldn't get it any further than 3/4 the way up and had to walk it until I got to more level ground. Mom thought it was adorable but I never made that mistake again. I've been eyeing LoP's hot pink bike ever since he got it but I only have stand-over in one spot so that's not happening.
I know others have seen long-suffering spouse’s 650b, flat bar, build on her 1980s custom road frame, but it is relevant to any discussion of pink.

I’m a little confused when it comes to wheels. I’ve been looking at carbon wheels lately, and I search for carbon clinchers. Clinchers are for tubes correct? Yet when I read the description every single one of the wheels that I have looked at specified tubeless in the description. Are carbon wheels traditionally tubeless?

All of those rims can be used with tubes. Tubeless is so popular now that it makes no sense to sell a rim which isn't tubeless compatible.

Huh. Well, I watched it go from "awaiting stock pick" to "awaiting shipment" overnight, and I just got a text that my credit card was run, so I assume that they're going out shortly.

Yes, I am mountain biking with one amiga this morning. Only 20 miles but lots of steep climbs.

She is un grande pedalista.

I am working in my NJ office today. Phone rings. Screen says the call is from "A WOMANS PLACE." Didn't pick it up, but I figure it must have been someone calling from home.

Some guy started a thread in General about how his wife got this used bike. Even came with a rear rack, panniers and the S&S suitcase. Price: $550. Talk about the crime of the century.

I saw that but didn't notice that it was coupled until you posted that picture.

It's unfortunate that the step-through frame design rarely gets implemented outside of department store bikes. There's a few nice ones out there, but definitely few-and-far-between.

The new Velo-Orange one certainly looks promising.

Does to me. Back in its day as a road bike it was as fast as they came and the rider was also pretty strong.
