yeah, I passed that one but I'm trying to be careful with the recovery from the surgeries and don't want to push it.

Understood! I was offering my congratulations on meeting your goal and wanting to encourage you. I didn't mean it as a challenge. I hope and pray for your full and speedy recovery!!

Took about a day to get my broken spoke fixed. Good time of year to need service. But been so busy I haven't even had time to log in and enter my last two rides. Not going to see 70 degrees around here for a while now. Freezing rain today. Week looking decent though, should be able to make my goal.

Merry Christmas!

Odd encounter tonight. I was out with my new Christmas gifts (Cygolite Hotshot 150 rear tail light and a Bryton Rider 320 computer) when about 2 miles into my ride I was waved down by a guy walking on the MUP. He was wearing a parka and pulling two suitcases on wheels. He knew more or less where he was but he was hoping to find a phone and an internet hot spot so he could unlock his bank accounts (???). Then he said "But where I really want to get to is The Squire." Me: "The strip club???" Guy: "Yes, how far a walk is it?" I tell him it's about 3-4 miles and if he turns and walks in the opposite direction on the path it will get him really close. He thought that was great and he turned and started walking. Don't know what happened to him, about 40 minutes later I was near the Squire on my ride back home. If he followed the directions I should have run into him again, but he was nowhere to be seen.

Boring ride tonight, nobody wandering around in the dark looking for a strip joint. But I managed my goal for the month, and I might yet get in a couple more rides.

OK, so 350 won't be happening this month. If the rain keeps up, 100 isn't likely. I rode to work this morning, and it was cold, but at least dry. I had a physical therapy appointment after work which would have given me well over 30 miles for the day, but partway there it started raining, and by the time I got near my house, I was saturated to the point where PT wasn't going to be fun for anyone involved, so I detoured home, dried off, and changed my clothes. Supposed to be sunny tomorrow, but rain Wednesday and Thursday, and I just don't think I'll be able to clock any more miles this year.

Won't be riding Wednesday, hoping to ride Thursday and/or Friday. Then the weekend forecast is wet, followed by significantly colder weather. Looks like January will be off to a slow start.

Interesting how my GPS varies. Starting on 12/26 I've been using my new Bryton, and it is consistently 16.2 miles for my route. My prior rides were logged with a Fitbit Charge 4 synced to the GPS on my iPhone. That data is all over the map, even had a reading less than 14 miles on Monday night when riding the exact same route. I think I'll try Strava next time. Try to see if I can figure out whether it is a Fitbit issue or my phone.

This is why I still use an old school wired odometer. I could never get GPS to be anything near consistent.

Between vacation and other things, life really got in the way this month. I'm not going to get near my goal. Still, if the weather cooperates and I can ride today and tomorrow, I'll be just over 8,300 miles for the year. Down significantly over last year, but still more than I would have ever thought I'd be able to do when I started riding almost 4 years ago.
