new rider here
Hi Everyone.
I am very new to cycling. I live in Alberta, actually I have been getting into training to do Triathlons, and I need to get a bike. I need some advice as I am completely new in this sport. Can anyone suggest some good entry level road bikes, preferably carbon fiber that I can use to test the waters of the sport? I really don't want to break the bank. I went to a couple shops and they were showing me bikes that are around $3,000. I would like to find something half that price realistically. If I really take to it I can always go out and upgrade down the road. Any websites or manufactures, that make a solid entry level bike would be appreciated. I just don't know what I am looking for.
Thanks,

Welcome.
Just start with a used road bike.
Try to find a group that will let you ride with them.
You will learn what you really need after riding some.
I started on a 25 y/o $15 road bike.

Lots of bike options. Trek. Specialized. Argon18. The list goes on an on. Have you tired looking for a used bike? You might get more for your money. Although with pandemic prices in place at the moment, it's hard to know what/say what's on the used market. Give pinkbike a look. I've had good success for buying used bikes there. Also I think there is Speed Theory bike out your way. They are a good spot for all things tri. Good luck.
